Job description

Job Overview
This position completes publications and printing work for organizations across LCPS, including both schools and administrative facilities. An employee in this position operates high speed production photocopying/printing equipment to reproduce a variety of documents. The work involves scheduling work, preparing documents for photocopying/printing, programming the equipment, and inspecting finished work for quality and completeness.
Roles and Responsibilities
The following information is intended to describe the overall nature and scope of the work being performed. This is not a comprehensive listing of all responsibilities or tasks; work may differ and other work may be assigned when deemed appropriate.
  • Communicates with requesting staffs regarding reproduction requests; advises requesters on reproduction requirements and suggests appropriate preparatory steps to facilitate photocopying/printing
  • Demonstrates the use of the network capabilities of the equipment and arranges with vendor representatives to present formal training
  • As required, prepares documents for photocopying/printing including reduction or enlargement, paste up copy, setup of tab sheets, and darkening or lightening or straightening/centering of original copy
  • Operates high speed production photocopying/printing equipment including networked equipment; programs equipment for each job; produces finished work including stapling or binding; saves documents as computerized files; performs routine user maintenance on equipment
  • Coordinates and manages online system for ordering copy and production print items
  • Assists schools and departments with inquiries related to online and email orders
  • Operates binding machines, paper drills, and other print shop equipment
  • Orders supplies, as necessary
  • Serves as a backup point of contact for the boardroom meetings as part of the Administration Building Operations team

Below are the minimum qualifications for this job. Equivalent combinations of education and experience are also acceptable.

Experience
Experience in performing production printing/photocopying work
Licenses and Certifications
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Knowledge of high-speed production photocopying/printing equipment; of print shop practices; of the use of common printing/photocopying devices such as binding machines and drills
  • Ability to operate a high-speed production photocopying/printing center and to perform related print shop work; to communicate effectively; to work cooperatively with others; to work under pressure and/or frequent interruptions; experience/knowledge of Xerox equipment
  • Must have knowledge of excel spreadsheets
