What is a copy intern?

A Copy Intern is an entry-level position in a marketing or advertising team, focused on assisting with the creation and editing of written content. Their primary tasks often include drafting copy for advertisements, social media, websites, and other marketing materials under the supervision of senior copywriters. Copy Interns help ensure messaging is clear, engaging, and consistent with the brand's voice. This role provides hands-on experience in the copywriting field and is a great starting point for those interested in a career in marketing or communications.

What are some typical projects or tasks a copy intern might work on during their internship?

As a Copy Intern, you can expect to work on a variety of writing assignments such as drafting social media posts, editing blog articles, assisting with email campaigns, and creating product descriptions. You'll often collaborate closely with senior copywriters, designers, and marketing team members to ensure your work aligns with the brand's voice and messaging. This hands-on experience helps you develop your writing skills and gain exposure to the fast-paced, creative environment of a professional marketing or advertising team. You'll also likely receive constructive feedback and participate in brainstorming sessions, providing a well-rounded introduction to the copywriting field.

To thrive as a Copy Intern, you need strong writing, editing, and research skills, often supported by coursework in English, journalism, or marketing. Familiarity with content management systems, basic SEO tools, and digital collaboration platforms is typically expected.
