Job description

Experienced Sheet Metal Roofer / Copper Craftsman – Historic Roofing

The Durable Slate Company is an award-winning historic roofing contractor specializing in slate, copper, and clay-tile roofing. Established in 1986, we are known nationwide for exceptional craftsmanship, safety, and preservation excellence. We’re currently seeking an Experienced Sheet Metal Roofer / Copper Craftsman who takes pride in precision work and traditional metal roofing techniques.


What You’ll Do
  • Fabricate, install, repair, and restore architectural sheet metal systems including copper, stainless steel, and coated metals

  • Perform custom copper work such as flashing, gutters, downspouts, bay/window roofs, and decorative elements

  • Install and repair standing seam, flat seam, and soldered metal roofing systems

  • Perform detailed craftsmanship on historic and architecturally significant buildings

  • Maintain safe, professional job sites and follow company safety standards

  • Collaborate with a team of highly skilled craftspeople and preservation specialists

  • Travel to various job sites with paid travel time and logistics support provided


What We’re Looking For
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience in sheet metal roofing or copper craftsmanship (architectural or historic work preferred)

  • Strong knowledge of metal fabrication, soldering, seaming, and flashing details

  • Experience working with copper and other architectural metals

  • Comfort working at heights using ladders, lifts, and scaffolding

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds

  • Valid driver’s license with no more than 4 points, ability to pass a pre-employment drug test and background check

  • Commitment to quality craftsmanship, safety, and professionalism

  • Desire for a long-term career in historic preservation roofing
