Job description

Leapros Skilled Trades is actively hiring Copper Technicians in Montgomery, AL. We are seeking skilled Copper Technicians for ISP infrastructure projects in the Montgomery area. The ideal candidate is a local professional with a mastery of copper terminations and a deep understanding of standard wiring configurations to ensure high-quality network connectivity.

Job Type: Contract

Pay: $24 to $31 Per Hour BOE

Responsibilities:

  • Perform precise terminations of RJ45 connectors on various categories of copper cabling.
  • Implement wiring configurations following both T568A and T568B color code standards.
  • Install and route copper cabling within Inside Plant (ISP) environments.
  • Utilize hand tools to strip, crimp, and secure copper connections according to project specifications.
  • Test and troubleshoot copper links to ensure they meet performance and speed requirements.
  • Dress and manage cables within racks, cabinets, and cable trays for a professional finish.
  • Read and interpret blueprints and schematics for proper cable placement and termination points.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment while adhering to all site-specific safety protocols.

Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated experience in ISP copper cabling and infrastructure installation.
  • Proven proficiency in terminating RJ45 connectors with minimal rework.
  • Expert knowledge of T568A and T568B wiring schemes and color codes.
  • Ability to distinguish between different color-coded conductors accurately.
  • Experience using standard cabling tools including crimpers, punch-down tools, and testers.
  • Strong understanding of structured cabling standards and best practices.
  • Local residency in or near Montgomery, AL is highly preferred.
  • Ability to work effectively in a contract-based project environment.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to distinguish between fine color variations in wiring.
  • Capability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds of equipment and cabling.
  • Ability to stand, bend, and kneel for extended periods during termination tasks.
  • Comfort working on ladders and at heights when necessary.
  • Manual dexterity required to work with small components and hand tools.
  • Ability to work in confined spaces such as telecommunications closets.
