Summary:
In this role, your primary responsibility will revolve around the installation of fiber and copper internet and voice services for both residential and business locations. Additionally, you will play a secondary role in addressing trouble tickets, conducting routine maintenance tasks, and providing valuable customer assistance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Skillfully perform on-site installations of fiber and copper services, including navigating attics, crawl spaces, and walls within homes and businesses.
- Employ professional cable routing techniques, seamlessly transitioning cables from exterior to interior while upholding the aesthetics of the building.
- Undertake maintenance and repairs of outside plant facilities, ensuring optimal functionality.
- Interpret and apply cable records and station apparatus schematics for accurate service provision.
- Utilize power tools with safety as a priority to mount cables and fixtures.
- Employ hand tools to dig holes and trenches for installation and troubleshooting purposes.
- Establish connections between customers' devices and communication equipment like routers and modems.
- Thoroughly test circuits, equipment, and alarms to verify services and functionality.
- Provide customer service, education, and clear explanations of all services and equipment.
- Skillfully read and interpret results from copper and fiber optic test equipment.
- Adhere to codes, standards, and legal regulations to maintain a safe work environment.
- Display eagerness to learn new applications and technologies that enhance customer service performance.
- Participate in an on-call rotation and be available for after-hour work as required.
- Be adaptable to additional duties and tasks as determined by the Company.
Skills and Qualifications:
- A positive attitude and a strong work ethic are fundamental.

- Demonstrated knowledge of how the Internet functions.
- Strong problem-solving inclination.
- Familiarity with Outside Plant functions.
- Possession of a clean driving record and a valid driver's license.

- Comprehensive background in data, internet, and networking.
- Proficiency in PC-based programs, including Microsoft applications.
- Capability to read blueprints and effectively use associated test equipment.
- Aptitude for quickly learning new products, procedures, and programs, and making well-informed decisions.
Education and Experience:
- High School Diploma or equivalent (Some College preferred).
- Proficiency in diagnostic test tools such as Optical Power meters, Optical Time Domain Reflectometer, and Ethernet Test gear.
- Ability to work independently and without direct supervision.
- Comfort working in indoor spaces with limited ventilation, such as attics during extreme heat.
- Exposure to elements like dust, dirt, noise, insects, and cleaning solutions.
- Flexibility to work outdoors in all weather conditions and at varying times of day or night.
- Willingness to work near power lines and electrical sources.
- Willingness to work and travel in inclement weather conditions.
