COPD Educators may work in hospitals, clinics, or community settings, collaborating with healthcare teams to support patients. Their goal is to help individuals better manage their condition, reduce hospital visits, and improve overall lung health.
To thrive as a COPD Educator, you need a background in respiratory therapy, nursing, or a related healthcare field, along with experience in patient education about chronic lung disease. Familiarity with spirometry, oxygen therapy equipment, electronic medical records, and certifications such as Certified COPD Educator (CCEP) or Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) are typical requirements. Strong interpersonal communication, cultural sensitivity, and motivational interviewing skills help build trust and effectively guide patients. These competencies are crucial for equipping individuals with the knowledge and strategies needed to manage COPD, improve health outcomes, and reduce hospital readmissions.

Located in Kerrville, Texas, the Raphael Community Free Clinic (RCFC) is a spiritual based clinic treating the underserved for free, since 1997. We were one of the five clinics which founded the Texas Association of Charitable Clinics. Generous support from grants and donations allows us to provide primary patient care to those who meet our eligibility requirements. Come join us and our Mission which to minister in a caring and Christian environment to the medically underserved of Kerr and surrounding counties. Everyone deserves quality care.
