Position Summary

Calgary Sports and Entertainment Corporationโ€™s Food Service Department is seeking a 2nd Cook. You will possess the ability to multi-task, be very organized, and have strong interpersonal and communication skills. Formal culinary training is considered an asset.

Key Accountabilities

  • Prepare hot plates, cold plates, soups, salads, sauces and sandwiches for the restaurant, suites, and banquet functions.
  • Ensure proper storage, handling, and use of food inventories.
  • Ensure proper temperatures are maintained.
  • Comply to all safe food handling policies.
  • Attend carving stations on buffets and/or private functions.
  • Responsible for the daily cooking and preparation of food for Molson Hockey House
  • Prepare hot meals, cold meals, soups, salads, sauces, and sandwiches for the outlet and assist in other department at times
  • Perform a variety of butchering tasks, such as cutting & portioning meat, filleting fish and deboning poultry.
  • Have a good understanding of pastry and able prepare desserts
  • Responsible for station operation, preparing and serving food items following specifications provided by the CDP or Chef
  • Possess and maintain a good knowledge of sanitation requirements and food handling safety standards
  • Actively support and follow daily cleaning routines of fridges, freezer & storage and keep work areas clean and sanitary throughout their shift
  • Good knowledge of kitchen operational procedures, company policies and training
  • Participate actively in health and safety programs and adhere to policies.
  • Assist in other areas of the kitchen as required.
  • Follow recipes, portion controls and presentation specs
  • Possess good communication skills (verbal, listening, writing)
  • Supervise and train new culinary staff when required
  • Actively participate in safety programs and follow policies;
  • All other duties as assigned.


THE INDIVIDUAL
The ideal candidate will have the following background:

  • A minimum of 3 Years of Hotel/Restaurant experience as a cook or enrollment in a culinary program, with an all-round knowledge of the kitchen operation
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Culinary Education/Trade papers and asset
  • Related work experience
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Good interpersonal and teamwork skills
  • Basic FoodSafe certification

Please note, this position is based on the event schedule in a fast paced environment, with emphasis on evenings, weekends, and statutory holidays.ย Shift lengths vary, and require flexible working times. ย
