Job description

Indiana Masonic Home Compass Park is looking to add to our Food Service Team. Compass Park is a vast 320-acre community in the heart of Johnson County adjacent to Indianapolis. It is a vibrant community through all seasons and a place of beauty, rich in tall trees and winding footpaths. This job is in Franklin, IN.

Full Time 10a-7pm 

Cook Responsibilities:

  • Operates and cleans equipment per department procedures after each use.
  • Follows Board of Health and department sanitation procedures and maintains a clean, sanitary working environment.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of infection control and sanitation with food temperatures, hand washing, use of gloves and dating of food when required to handle food.
  • Identifies and utilizes cleaning chemicals used, following directions recommended by manufactures and per MSDS sheets.
  • Prepares entrees, vegetables, and specials according to standardized procedures.
  • Set up workstations with all the necessary ingredients and cooking equipment.
  • Prepare ingredients to use in cooking (chopping and peeling vegetables, cutting meat etc.)
  • Ensure all food and other items are stored properly and check the quality of ingredients.
  • Monitor stock and let chef or director know when there are shortages or needed items.

Cook Requirements:

  • Preferred High school diploma or equivalent; Diploma from a culinary school will be an advantage.
  • Cook experience.
  • Experience in using cutting tools, cookware, and bakeware.
  • Knowledge of various cooking procedures and methods (grilling, baking, boiling, etc.)
  • Good communication skills
