Job Description:
Job Purpose
Perform detailed controls design, development, and maintenance on the mill networking and communication system to ensure continuous operation. Support maintenance personnel on troubleshooting and repair of all network systems. Perform routine maintenance and upgrades on existing equipment. Drive mill improvements through optimization of equipment. Act as an interface between the mill, IT, engineering support and key suppliers.
In this position you will have the opportunity to:
Perform all duties in accordance with all safety/quality rules and regulations.
โ€ข Perform preventative and predictive maintenance functions.
โ€ข Troubleshoot electromechanical issues as necessary.
โ€ข Assist in the installation of new equipment and systems
โ€ข Develop and document specifications, plans, prints, schematics, and other necessary documentation required to clearly communicate mill systems.
โ€ข Develop detailed design of automation and process control systems that integrate PCs, PLCs, AC and DC drives, position controllers and networks.
โ€ข Integrate statistical control components into system design including basic control charting, real time and historical trending, remote monitoring, and data acquisition/control.
โ€ข Develop, install, and debug control system programming including PC operating, PC networking, SQL, Access, Excel, PLC, HMI and specialty software.
โ€ข Investigate new equipment applications with consultants and company engineers and suppliers.
โ€ข Lead teams dedicated to mill improvements in efficiency, uptime, and overall throughput.
โ€ข Lead development and training efforts of maintenance personnel in the design features, process operation, interpretation of system information regarding control system functionality.
โ€ข Support Mill with the ability to troubleshoot electrical issues via remote access or on call.
โ€ข Perform other electro-mechanical duties as necessary.
What do I need to be successful?
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of HMI software and the ability to effectively apply them into the manufacturing environment.
    โ€ข Knowledge of statistical control techniques and programs.
    โ€ข Knowledge of federal, state and industry standards/specifications including: NFPA, IEEE, OSHA.
    โ€ข Effective oral and written communication skills.
    โ€ข Ability to influence and guide people to allow successful completion of objectives.

Education:
  • Vocational Degree
    โ€ข PLC Training
    โ€ข 5+ years electrical experience
    โ€ข Or any equivalent combination of education and experience that demonstrates
    the ability to perform the key responsibilities of this position.
