Job description

The primary duties of this position include successful leadership of multiple projects and key client relationships for projects in our Energy, Transmission and Distribution group


YMC is seeking a Project Controls Specialist to support key client relationships and projects for the Energy, Transmission and Distribution

The Project Controls Specialist will be responsible for scheduling activities and planning including concepts and principles that effect financial performance

Project Controls Specialist will support all aspects of scheduling throughout the project life cycle

The Project Controls Specialist is responsible for establishing and maintaining a professional and satisfactory relationship with the Owner, subcontractors, regulatory agencies and other project stakeholders.


Specific Responsibilities


Develop, maintain, and monitor detailed project schedules for energy, transmission, and distribution projects across all project phases

Lead preparation of project execution plans, schedule updates, progress reports, and change management documentation

Analyze schedule performance, identify variances, and recommend corrective actions to maintain project timelines

Support development of Work Breakdown Structures (WBS) and integrate scheduling with procurement, engineering, and financial systems

Incorporate approved change orders, scope adjustments, and schedule impacts into baseline schedules

Apply advanced scheduling concepts, including resource loading, cost loading, critical path analysis, float management, and earned value techniques

Facilitate schedule review and change order meetings with internal teams and stakeholders

Coordinate with owners, contractors, and regulatory bodies to ensure alignment on project timelines and deliverables

Maintain accurate documentation and ensure compliance with project controls procedures, contract terms, and reporting standards


Qualifications


Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management, business, or a related field

Minimum of 5 years of experience in project controls, scheduling, and cost tracking, preferably within the utility or infrastructure sectors

Strong proficiency in scheduling software (e.g., Primavera P6, MS Project) and Microsoft Office applications

Solid understanding of project lifecycle phases, WBS development, and earned value management

Familiarity with contract terms and their impact on schedule and deliverables

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present data clearly to stakeholders

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail

Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet tight deadlines
