Senior Accountant – Project & Job Cost Accounting

Location: Galveston, TX

A growing organization in the Galveston area is seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to join its accounting team in a hands-on role supporting financial reporting, general ledger accounting, job costing, reconciliations, and fixed assets.

This is an excellent opportunity for an accountant who enjoys working closely with operations and wants exposure to a project-based business environment. The position will have responsibility across several core accounting functions and will play an important role in maintaining accurate financial information, strengthening internal controls, and supporting business decision-making.

Candidates with accounting experience in construction, manufacturing, engineering, industrial services, oil & gas, maritime, or other project-based environments are encouraged to apply.

What You'll Do
  • Complete monthly bank and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Prepare journal entries and support the monthly close process.
  • Maintain accurate general ledger records and supporting documentation.
  • Manage job cost allocations and support accurate project accounting.
  • Maintain fixed asset records, including additions, disposals, and monthly depreciation.
  • Prepare financial reports and analyze financial information for management.
  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and audit activities.
  • Use Excel to analyze financial data, reconcile accounts, and support reporting.
  • Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and strengthen internal controls.
  • Work with operations and other departments to ensure timely and accurate financial information.
  • Support additional accounting and financial projects as needed.
What We're Looking For
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • 3+ years of professional accounting experience.
  • Experience with general ledger accounting, reconciliations, journal entries, and month-end close.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple accounting responsibilities.
  • Ability to work full-time onsite in Galveston, Texas.
Preferred Experience
  • Job costing or project-based accounting experience.
  • Accounting experience within construction, manufacturing, engineering, industrial services, oil & gas, maritime, or another project-driven environment.
  • Fixed asset accounting and depreciation.
  • Budgeting, forecasting, and audit support.
  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central or a similar ERP/accounting system.
