Job description

Build your best future with the Johnson Controls team. As part of a global leader in smart, healthy, and sustainable buildings, you will help deliver control systems that improve performance for people, places, and the planet while growing through meaningful work and learning opportunities.
Role Overview
In this on-site project leadership role, you will plan, execute, and complete control systems projects for assigned customers. You will coordinate technical delivery, customer communication, subcontractors, and project closeout while maintaining a strong balance between customer satisfaction, safety, and financial results.
Key Responsibilities
  • Lead assigned control systems projects from planning through completion and closeout.
  • Perform or delegate hardware design, system programming, installation coordination, system and network commissioning, and project closeout tasks.
  • Manage project costs, billings, collections, and monthly cost updates to support profitability and cash flow.
  • Coordinate communication with customers throughout all phases of the project and pursue change orders when scope changes occur.
  • Provide work direction to subcontractors, electrical installers, technicians, designers, and administrative support as needed.
  • Manage material selection, ordering, delivery schedules, vendor pricing, and subcontractor scope and terms.
  • Coordinate panel and field device locations and ensure installation aligns with Johnson Controls literature and project requirements.
  • Validate system loading, device verification, commissioning, and complete system functionality.
  • Resolve project and commissioning issues with subcontractors and other partners to keep work moving smoothly.
  • Deliver accurate as-built, commissioning, billing, warranty, training, and closeout documentation.
  • Provide site-specific training for owner/operators and ensure system operation materials are complete.
  • Maintain strong jobsite safety practices and ensure work complies with applicable legal requirements.

How You Will Do It
  • Own outcomes with accountability by keeping scope, quality, schedule, cost, ethics, and safety aligned from kickoff through warranty.
  • Stay close to the work by using established standards for hardware design, software programming, installation coordination, and commissioning.
  • Remove obstacles quickly by evaluating change orders, client bulletins, field directives, and schedule impacts, then communicating technical and business issues clearly.
  • Work as one team with customers, subcontractors, technicians, designers, and suppliers to keep project execution coordinated and dependable.
  • Improve every day by validating system performance, resolving issues early, maintaining accurate documentation, and sharing clear forecasts of revenue, costs, and gross margin.
  • Lead with integrity and safety by ensuring work is completed ethically, in compliance with requirements, and with a high degree of regard for employee and subcontractor safety.

Qualifications
  • Technical associate degree with two years of field experience, or four years of equivalent related field experience in the HVAC industry.
  • Relevant hands-on experience in systems design and commissioning of digital HVAC controls systems.
  • Ability to communicate technical material to a non-technical audience.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform work independently.

Nice to Have
  • Strong personal computer skills.
  • Knowledge of control theory and HVAC systems.
  • Knowledge of project accounting, costing principles, and contracting.

Why Join Us
You will join a collaborative team with a strong focus on safety, training, and customer success. Johnson Controls offers competitive salary, paid vacation/holidays/sick time, comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, and vision care available day one, extensive product and on-the-job/cross-training opportunities with outstanding resources, an encouraging team environment, and dedication to safety through the Zero Harm policy.
