You will join a growing, engineering-led organization delivering advanced HVAC, refrigeration, controls, and building-system solutions across North America. The business is investing in its engineering capability and needs a strong leader who can bring structure, consistency, and fresh thinking to the team.
This is an opportunity to take ownership of a multidisciplinary engineering function supporting complex HVAC, refrigeration, controls, and building systems.
As Engineering Manager, you will lead a team of controls and mechanical engineers across existing product improvements, new product development, and custom customer solutions.
You will balance technical leadership with people management and hands-on project execution. Your focus will be on creating clear priorities, improving engineering processes, and ensuring every project is properly designed, documented, and ready for the field.
This is a remote position, with preference given to candidates based in the Greater Toronto Area.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, coach, and develop controls and mechanical design engineers.
- Manage competing engineering priorities without compromising quality.
- Oversee design modifications based on field feedback, customer demand, and regulatory requirements.
- Establish clear change-control, review, approval, and release processes.
- Maintain accurate drawings, bills of materials, operating sequences, and technical documentation.
- Lead new product projects from initial concept through commissioning-ready handoff.
- Identify integration risks before they become field issues.
- Create a structured process for reviewing and prioritizing custom engineering requests.
- Improve engineering standards, system reliability, and overall efficiency.
- Partner with Sales, Project Management, Field Operations, and external partners.
- Represent engineering team during proposals, design reviews, and customer meetings.

The person
You will bring:
- Seven or more years of relevant engineering experience.
- At least three years of team leadership experience.
- Strong knowledge of PLC/DDC logic, commissioning, and operating sequences.
- Experience managing professional engineering documentation.
- Excellent technical and non-technical communication skills.
- A valid passport and ability to travel.
- Experience with CO2 refrigeration, grocery retail, new product introduction, or relevant industry standards would be an advantage.
