Job Description
The Lead Electrical & Controls engineer will be responsible for supporting the execution of MWIS projects. Working with the Mechanical Engineering team, the Electrical & Controls engineer is responsible for the design of the control and automation strategy for the system. Control design responsibilities include developing the control narrative, control logic charts, PLC program, and drawings including electrical layout and panel drawings. Electrical design responsibilities include completing the electrical design and developing single line diagrams, field wire lists, I/O lists, network architecture, panel design and schematics. Electrical & Controls engineers provide support to production facilities and assist the Service team through installation and commissioning.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following.
  • Contribute to preparation of Process & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID)
  • Read and process engineering documents, including P&IDs, GAs, process design. guidelines, Electrical Schematics, I/O Lists, instrument and valve lists, Network Architecture, return of experience, and engineering best practices guides.
  • Interpret, comment and follow contract and customer specifications.
  • Design the complete detailed control logic for plant operation (Control Philosophy, Control Logic & Sequence Charts) with operator and equipment safety in mind.
  • Support Electrical, Control & Instrumentation design of standard products.
  • Support of commissioning, testing, and troubleshooting activities.
  • Manage budget, scope and schedule and proactively report risks and opportunities to project teams.
  • Develop control system architecture
  • Prepare schematics, layouts and bills of material for control panel fabrication
  • Develop control strategies including narratives and operational sequence charts
  • Develop PLC and HMI programs, typically from a "basis" project

Qualifications
Education & Experience
Required:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or other Engineering Technical degree. Candidates with relevant work experience where the candidate has demonstrated the ability to perform the required duties and responsibilities may also be considered.
  • 5 years of experience in the design of industrial water treatment systems.
  • Proficiency with Allen Bradley, GE Fanuc, Wonderware, Siemens and/ or other common platforms programmable controls and HMI's.
  • Familiarity with the NEC and UL508A
  • Experience working with Process and Instrumentation Diagrams
  • Familiar with industrial scale water treatment system design and execution including ultrafiltration, clarification, media filtration, reverse osmosis, ion exchange, and EDI.
  • Demonstrated technical knowledge of control system design including motor controls
  • Understanding of Low Voltage Power Distribution System design.
  • Understanding of High/ Medium Voltage Power Distribution System design.
  • Familiarity with Google Tools, MS Office, SAP and ability to learn other software applications
  • Ability to work in an industrial and manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to travel 25% of the time and live in proximity to a major airport.

Compensation - The salary range is tied to the market for similarly benchmarked roles. The range is not an absolute, but a guide, and offers will be based on the individual candidate's knowledge, skills, experience, and market conditions, as well as internal peer equity. Depending upon all the preceding considerations for the final selected individual candidate, the offer may be lower or higher than the stated range: $110,000- 125,000 USD annually
