About the Role

Pacific Recycling, Inc. is seeking an experienced Industrial Millwright to join our metal recycling shredder team. The facility includes a 4,000hp hammermill shredder and downstream metal recovery plant. The ideal candidate thrives on solving complex mechanical challenges, takes ownership of equipment reliability, and brings a disciplined approach to preventive maintenance and documentation.

Key Responsibilities

Perform installation, alignment, repair, and overhaul of heavy industrial machinery including hammermill shredder and drive systems, feed and transfer conveyor systems, screening equipment, eddy current separators and similar metal recovery sorting equipment.

Maintain and troubleshoot hydraulic systems, including cylinders, pumps, valves, and associated piping and hose assemblies.

Inspect, adjust, and repair conveyor systems, including belts, rollers, drives, and take-ups

Diagnose and resolve electrical and controls issues in coordination with electricians/vendors, including motor controls, sensors, PLCs, and safety interlocks.

Develop and execute planned maintenance schedules; maintain thorough records of work orders, inspection findings, parts usage, and equipment history.

Lead and participate in project planning and execution including equipment installations, upgrades, and major overhauls from scope development through commissioning.

Identify and communicate equipment deficiencies proactively; recommend and implement reliability improvements.

Mentor apprentice millwrights and collaborate with operators to promote equipment care and early fault detection.

Qualifications

Journeyman millwright, 5 years of experience in a heavy industrial environment; metals, aggregate, mining, or recycling experience is a strong asset.

Demonstrated expertise with hydraulic systems and the ability to read and interpret hydraulic schematics.

Proficient with conveyor systems, shaft alignment, and precision mechanical fitting.

Working knowledge of electrical and controls systems; ability to safely perform basic troubleshooting within a lockout/tagout framework.

Comfortable using CMMS or similar systems for maintenance planning, documentation, and parts management.

Strong project management skills with the ability to prioritize competing demands in a fast-paced production environment.

This position requires regular outdoor work in all weather conditions. The environment involves heavy equipment, elevated noise levels, airborne dust and debris, and proximity to operational shredding and conveyor systems. Full PPE is required at all times on site.
