Job Summary
The Adjunct Electrical Apprenticeship Instructor is a part-time, non-benefited position responsible for delivering high-quality classroom and hands-on instruction to apprentices enrolled in Laramie County Community College's Registered Electrical Apprenticeship Program. Utilizing NCCER curriculum, the instructor prepares apprentices with the technical knowledge and practical skills required for successful careers in the electrical industry while supporting their progression toward journeyman status.
The instructor combines extensive industry experience with a passion for teaching, mentoring, and developing the next generation of electrical professionals. Instruction may include topics such as electrical theory, wiring methods, conduit installation, blueprint reading, motor controls, the National Electrical Code (NEC), electrical safety, and other trade-specific competencies. The instructor is expected to create a positive, engaging learning environment that promotes professionalism, safety, critical thinking, and the application of industry best practices.
Compensation: $40.00/hour.
Priority Screening Date: Position is open until filled.
Starting Date: As soon as practical after the hiring process. Position filled on an as needed basis.
Hours of Work: 1-2 days per week from 5pm to 9pm.

• Participates in continuous improvement of student learning and success by gathering data, analyzing data, engaging with peers and internal and external stakeholders, and implementing change as a result.

PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS:

• While performing the essential functions of this position a variable work schedule may be required
• There may be occurrences of interacting with employees and/or students, past employees and/or students, members of the general public, and others who express opinions, may exhibit strong emotions, which will require the employee to interact professionally, diplomatically, and appropriately in such situations
• While performing the essential duties of this position, an employee would frequently be required to move around the assigned work areas as well as within hallways, meeting rooms, and other parts of the campus facilities
• There may be multiple/daily instances of prolonged sitting, standing, and personal computer use, which would include keyboard and/or mouse usage as well as viewing a computer monitor
• An employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move more to perform essential position functions
• Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, and ability to adjust focus
• The overall work environment requires the mental ability to shift focal point quickly due to interruptions; an employee must be able to mentally track multiple projects and tasking as well
• The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate; however, there may be instances of somewhat loud environments.

Education and Experience Requirements
Minimum Qualifications:

• Minimum of five years of professional experience in the electrical industry.
• Current Journeyman Electrician or Master Electrician license.
• Demonstrated experience in one or more of the following areas: commercial, industrial, or residential electrical installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, or construction.
• Working knowledge of electrical theory, wiring methods, electrical safety, blueprint reading, and the application of the National Electrical Code (NEC).
• Experience applying industry safety regulations and standards, including OSHA requirements and NFPA 70E safe work practices.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively mentor and instruct adult learners.

Preferred Qualifications:

• NCCER Instructor Certification or willingness to obtain certification.
• Experience teaching, mentoring, supervising apprentices, or delivering technical training.
• Experience adapting instructional methods to accommodate diverse learning styles and varying levels of experience.
• Experience with or willingness to learn instructional technologies, including Learning Management Systems (LMS).
• Familiarity with Registered Apprenticeship programs and NCCER curriculum.
• Experience with project-based, laboratory, or hands-on instructional methods.
