Job description:

HVAC Service Technician (Union)

Tonawanda, NY | Full-Time | Rotating On-Call

Join one of Western New York's leading mechanical contractors.

At DV Brown & Associates, we design, build, and service the HVAC, plumbing, and process piping systems that keep hospitals, schools, universities, manufacturing facilities, and commercial buildings operating efficiently. We're looking for an experienced Commercial HVAC Service Technician who thrives on solving complex problems, working independently, and delivering exceptional customer service.

What You'll Do

  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair commercial HVAC equipment, including rooftop units, split systems, VRF systems, air handlers, boilers, pumps, hydronic and steam heating systems
  • Troubleshoot refrigeration circuits, electrical controls, motors, VFDs, and building automation systems
  • Perform preventative maintenance and emergency service calls
  • Complete digital work orders, document repairs, and communicate findings clearly
  • Identify equipment issues and recommend repair or replacement solutions
  • Order parts through company purchasing procedures
  • Mentor apprentices and junior technicians
  • Represent DV Brown professionally at hospitals, schools, manufacturing plants, and commercial facilities throughout Western New York

What We're Looking For

  • EPA Section 608 Universal Certification (required)
  • Strong commercial HVAC service and troubleshooting experience
  • Ability to read mechanical drawings, wiring diagrams, and control schematics
  • Valid driver's license with an insurable driving record
  • Comfortable using tablets or mobile devices for digital documentation
  • Willingness to participate in an on-call rotation
  • Strong diagnostic skills and the ability to work independently

Preferred Qualifications

  • Chiller service experience (centrifugal, screw, or scroll)
  • Boiler, hydronic, and combustion analysis experience
  • Building automation systems experience (Siemens, Johnson Controls, Honeywell, Niagara, etc.)
  • Healthcare, laboratory, or critical environment service experience
  • Refrigeration or process cooling experience
  • Experience mentoring apprentices or leading small crews
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification and manufacturer training

Physical Requirements

This position requires lifting up to 50 lbs., climbing ladders, working on rooftops, in mechanical rooms, crawl spaces, and confined spaces, exposure to varying weather conditions, driving between customer sites, and wearing required PPE.
