Job description

Construction Controller | Downtown Toronto

$100,000 - $120,000 + benefits

This isn’t a corporate accounting role.

I’m working with an Ontario-based construction company in the Downtown Toronto core looking for a hands-on Construction Controller who understands how project finances actually work - not just month-end close.

They run on QuickBooks, so experience working within that environment (or something very similar) matters.

What matters:

  • 5+ years in construction accounting (GC, developer, or similar environment)
  • Strong understanding of job costing, WIP reporting, progress billing, and holdbacks
  • Experience managing cash flow tied to active projects
  • Comfortable operating in a lean team - both strategic and hands-on
  • Ability to work directly with ownership, PMs, and site teams

What you’ll be doing:

  • Own full-cycle accounting + financial reporting
  • Manage job cost tracking, forecasting, and variance analysis
  • Oversee billing cycles, lien holdbacks, and subcontractor payments
  • Maintain and optimize processes within QuickBooks
  • Bring structure and visibility to the financial side of the business

What this is not:

  • Not a high-level “review-only” Controller role
  • Not a siloed finance function
  • Not a place to sit removed from operations

You’ll be tied directly to projects, decisions, and performance.

Compensation:

$100K – $120K base + benefits
