Job Summary:
The Assistant Controller supports the Controller in managing the organization's accounting operations, financial reporting, and internal controls. This role is responsible for ensuring accuracy in financial records, maintaining compliance with accounting standards, and contributing to process improvements. The Assistant Controller plays a key role in month-end close, budgeting, audits, and financial analysis.
Duties/Responsibilities:ยท Assist in overseeing daily accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable, and accounts receivableยท Support the preparation and timely completion of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statementsยท Maintain and reconcile balance sheet accounts and ensure accuracy of financial recordsยท Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysisยท Ensure compliance with GAAP (or relevant accounting standards) and regulatory requirementsยท Support internal and external audit processes by preparing documentation and responding to inquiriesยท Help develop and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assetsยท Analyze financial data and provide insights to support strategic decision-makingยท Supervise and mentor accounting staff as neededยท Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracyยท Assist with tax filings and coordination with external tax advisorsยท Record and reconcile all fixed asset entriesยท File annual property taxยท Draft monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and lender compliance reportingRequired Skills/Abilities: ยท Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial reportingยท Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite, SAP, or similar ERP systems)ยท Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, formulas, data analysis)ยท High attention to detail and accuracyยท Strong analytical and problem-solving abilitiesยท Excellent organizational and time-management skillsยท Effective communication and interpersonal skillsยท Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlinesEducation and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (required)
- CPA or CPA candidate strongly preferred
- 3โ7 years of progressive accounting experience
- Prior public accounting or corporate accounting experience preferred
