Job description


The Sr. Project Controller is responsible to support planning and performance monitoring on a project or portfolio of projects, including providing data driven input to operational managers through the implementation of project controls processes, procedures and contracts. The incumbent must be able to interpret contracts, track performance daily, weekly and monthly, incorporate quantitative and qualitative analysis, and to define both the physical and the economic performance of the projects and recommend action to be taken should deviations from the optimal performance be highlighted.
The incumbent will support business objectives of the Company to ensure they are consistently achieved. The Sr. Project Controller must be knowledgeable in the discipline of project management, provide input and support the development, implementation and maintenance of project baselines, project execution plans, administration of contracts, inclusive of supporting the setup of project administrative aspects.
Responsibilities
1. Ensure that all functions are carried out in compliance with health, safety and environmental guidelines, policies, procedures and legislations
2. Support compiling tender documents for mining construction projects, including bills of quantities, general conditions of contract and special conditions of contract
3. Support the development of controls baselines for projects, including assisting development of project execution plans, project specific controls procedures and to assist management
4. Support administrative set up of new projects, including timekeeping, reporting, chart of accounts and document management
5. Facilitate the Management of Change process and integration with Redpath's policies, procedures, contracts and financial system (where required)
6. Participate in compiling, updating and tracking project costs and schedule (Hard Dollar, Primavera and/or MS Projects and Oracle)
7. Maintain earned value management systems
8. Prepare management information reports for site and office personnel incorporating both physical advances and financial data to engender a profit focused culture on projects
9. Support the proper use and implementation of the code of accounts on projects
10. Attend meetings, ensuring proper project meeting minutes are compiled and circulated
11. Compile and analyze trends obtained from site statistics and advise management of issues potentially impacting on policies, procedures, schedule, costs, project scope, risks and/or safety related issues
12. Participate in analyzing construction change orders and/or claims
13. Prepare and finalize the close-out reports, including maintaining historical costs and production information in a prescribed format
14. Maintain professional working relationships with management and client representatives
15. Maintain confidentiality with respect to Redpath and client information

17. If required to operate a company vehicle during the course of employment, must meet the requirements to be an eligible user of company vehicles. Must possess a current Driver's License and have an acceptable driving record.

19. Must be able to comprehend written and verbal instructions as required to perform their duties in a safe and efficient manner.
20. Comply with daily, weekly and monthly safety directives, policies, and procedures.
21. Maintain confidentiality with respect to Redpath and client information.
22. Comply with and ensure compliance with Redpath's Policies and Procedures as detailed in the appropriate manuals, handbooks, directives, Standard Operating Procedures (SOP)
23. Able to work in excess of 40 hours a week, overtime, day shift, weekends, holidays and shift rotations.

Qualifications
Education:
1. Required: Bachelor degree in a related scientific, engineering or business field.
a. Preferred concentration in (business or engineering) in quantity survey, cost estimating or mining. Additional qualifications and/or certification(s) in project management, contract administration, cost & schedule control will be considered an asset.
Work Experience:
1. 5 - 7 years of field and/or office-based roles in project controls, project management, commercial, mining, civil construction, industrial construction or financial reporting.
