Controller | $90,000–$120,000 + Bonus | Onsite | Direct Hire | Des Moines Metro

A growing, well-established manufacturing organization in the Des Moines metro is seeking a hands-on Controller to lead its accounting and finance function. This highly visible leadership role partners directly with executive leadership and oversees all accounting operations, financial reporting, month-end and year-end close, and a small accounting team. The position offers a unique opportunity to step into a well-supported succession plan with direct training from an experienced finance leader before assuming full responsibility for the department.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead all month-end and year-end close activities and prepare accurate GAAP financial statements
  • Oversee general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, fixed assets, and financial reporting
  • Partner with executive leadership on budgeting, forecasting, cash flow, and business performance analysis
  • Manage annual external audits and maintain strong internal controls
  • Analyze manufacturing costs, inventory, and operational performance to support business decisions
  • Supervise and develop a small accounting team while driving process improvements and operational efficiencies
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
  • CPA preferred
  • 5-7+ years of progressive accounting experience
  • Manufacturing accounting and cost accounting experience strongly preferred
  • Previous Controller, Assistant Controller, or Accounting Manager experience
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial statement preparation, month-end close, and internal controls
  • Experience leading accounting teams and partnering with executive leadership
  • ERP experience required; manufacturing ERP systems are a plus
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills with strong analytical and communication abilities
