Company Description:

Our privately held government contracting client is seeking a Controller to lead their accounting function. Reporting directly to the CFO, this individual will oversee a large finance and accounting organization across multiple sites. This position plays a key role in scaling a growing, mission-critical organization and offers exceptional visibility, broad cross-functional exposure, and long-term career stability. The ideal candidate must have progressive financial leadership experience and hands-on proficiency with Deltek (ideally Costpoint).

Responsibilities:

  • Direct all day-to-day accounting operations, ensuring compliance with GAAP, FAR, and other applicable government regulations
  • Lead, mentor, and develop an accounting and finance team across multiple locations
  • Oversee preparation of accurate, timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and management reporting
  • Establish and continuously strengthen accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls
  • Manage Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Payroll, General Ledger, Fixed Assets, and the financial close process
  • Oversee treasury functions including cash flow forecasting, banking relationships, and liquidity management
  • Drive annual budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis to support organizational goals
  • Identify and implement process improvements and automation to increase efficiency and strengthen controls
  • Serve as primary liaison for external auditors, government auditors, financial institutions, and regulatory agencies
  • Oversee indirect rate calculations, provisional billing rates, incurred cost submissions, and contract pricing support
  • Manage the annual financial statement audit, 401(k) plan audit, and insurance-related audits from start to finish
  • Oversee tax compliance and serve as primary liaison with outside tax advisors on all filings and planning
  • Manage banking and treasury relationships, working capital, debt facilities, and cash controls


Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required; MBA and/or CPA highly desirable
  • 10+ years of progressive financial leadership experience, ideally within Government Contracting, Aerospace, or Defense
  • Government contracting experience is required
  • Strong working knowledge of GAAP as well as FAR and CAS regulations
  • High-level experience with Deltek is required; Costpoint highly desired
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, and Outlook, with strong verbal and written communication skills
