Job Title Director of Accounting (Controller) Location Virginia Beach, VA, US Organization Name Finance Work Schedule and Other Information Brief Description Under broad guidance, the Director of Accounting is responsible for planning, directing, and overseeing HRSD's Accounting Department and ensuring the integrity of the organization's accounting operations, financial reporting, accounting policies, procedures, internal controls, and financial management systems. The Director oversees the preparation of the Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR), supports the annual budget process, and ensures compliance with accounting standards, laws, regulations, and reporting requirements. Education
Required
• Bachelor's degree in accounting from an accredited college or university
• Education equivalency: Two years of directly related professional experience may be substituted for each year of required education not completed. Experience used to satisfy this equivalency is in addition to the minimum experience
requirements.
Desired
• Master's degree in accounting, Business Administration, Public Administration, Finance, or a related field from an accredited college or university.
Experience

• Five years of progressively responsible accounting and financial management or public accounting experience, including supervision of professional staff.
• Demonstrated experience in the analysis, preparation, and presentation of complex financial statements, annual budgets, and other financial reports.
