Heritage Ministries is in growth mode and is currently seeking a Senior Accountant to join our team! The Senior Accountant is responsible for supporting the Director of Accounting & Financial Operations and Controller in carrying out the responsibilities of the Finance / Accounting Department. This position will relieve the Director of Accounting & Financial Operations and Controller of certain responsibilities that will allow them to spend a greater portion of their time on financial statement preparation and analysis, budget and variance issues, and forecasting. Responsibilities:
  • Maintain the entrance fees and associates amortization schedules; provide monthly detail to the Controller for general journal entries; insure proper recording of new admits and refunds. Complete monthly review of census information to determine completeness.
  • Prepare and maintain monthly pharmacy reporting packages, including all related journal entries, utilizing reports out of the pharmacy management software package.
  • Prepare and maintain debt, investment, and trust schedules. Prepare monthly journal entries to record monthly activity in these accounts.
  • Track cash activity weekly and communicate with the AR department to ensure accuracy; evaluate and correct discrepancies at least monthly. Process monthly direct debits when approved by AR.
  • Prepare support for and process journal entries as necessary.
  • Assist the Controller with month-end close review, including researching and correcting account discrepancies.
  • Acts as liaison for facility relations with the general public. Presents a service-oriented philosophy reflecting the ministry of Heritage Ministries and coveys this to staff and resident.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree or pursuit thereof or a minimum of 4 years' experience in accounting is required.
  • Must be highly skilled in dealing with financial and numeric data.
  • Must be highly skilled in use of the MS suite of applications, including Excel spreadsheets, Word documents, and PowerPoint presentations. Must be a very good writer in order to handle the occasional administrative needs of the department.
  • Must have very good verbal skills.
  • Must have excellent work habits, including a willingness to work the hours necessary to get the job done, especially when important deadlines cause greater than normal departmental pressures.
