Overview

The Residential AV Technician works both independently and as part of a team to install and configure home automation, audio/video, and related systems in residential environments. This role is responsible for delivering high-quality workmanship, maintaining professionalism on-site, and ensuring client satisfaction. The Residential AV Technician has a solid working knowledge of AV systems and installation techniques and is motivated to continue learning and advancing within the company.
Job Responsibilities

  • Install, connect, and configure AV systems including speakers, TVs, projectors, home theaters, and distributed audio/video systems
  • Run and terminate low voltage cabling for AV, network, and control systems
  • Mount TVs, racks, and other system hardware safely and cleanly
  • Complete system setup and testing to ensure functionality and performance
  • Perform basic troubleshooting of installed systems
  • Assist with lighting, shading, surveillance, and security installations under guidance
  • Maintain project documentation and report daily progress to the Project Manager
  • Collaborate with senior technicians and other team members to complete installations efficiently
  • Exhibit professionalism, cleanliness, and excellent customer service on every job site
  • Follow company safety and quality standards at all times
  • Continue to develop knowledge through training, certifications, and hands-on experience
Job Requirements (or Comparable Experience)

  • Minimum 2–3 years of AV field experience
  • High school diploma or GED

  • Basic understanding of control systems (Control4, RTI, URC, Savant, etc.) preferred
  • PCNA or comparable networking certification a plus
  • Strong understanding of AV components, signal flow, and connectivity
  • Ability to read and follow wiring diagrams, floor plans, and scopes of work
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Detail-oriented and organized; able to manage multiple tasks effectively
  • Strong problem-solving skills and initiative in the field
  • Must maintain a valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. and work on ladders, lifts, and at elevated heights
  • Clean background check and drivers check required
