The Applications Engineer – Flow Control & Valve Automation is a technical applications resource focused on control valves, automated valves, actuation, instrumentation, and related process automation solutions. This role partners closely with customers, Account Managers, engineering teams, and manufacturer partners to support the development of practical, reliable, and technically sound solutions for industrial applications.

This role combines technical application engineering, customer support, troubleshooting, and solution development to help deliver reliable and practical flow control solutions for industrial applications.

How you’ll make an impact:

 Technical Application Support

  • Support customers and Account Managers in identifying and developing flow control and process automation solutions
  • Participate in technical discovery discussions to understand customer applications, operating conditions, process constraints, reliability concerns, and project requirements
  • Assist with control valve sizing, selection, actuation, and solution development
  • Help ensure proposed solutions are technically accurate, practical, and aligned with customer requirements
  • Support technically complex opportunities through collaboration with manufacturer partners and internal teams

Flow Control Expertise & Troubleshooting

  • Serve as a technical resource for flow control technologies including control valves, automated valves, positioners, instrumentation, and diagnostics
  • Troubleshoot application, installation, startup, and operational issues in industrial environments
  • Support root cause analysis and help identify corrective actions for customer challenges
  • Assist customers and internal teams with commissioning and operational support when needed

 Customer & Field Support

  • Conduct joint customer visits with Account Managers and technical teams
  • Build credibility with engineering, operations, maintenance, and reliability stakeholders
  • Deliver technical presentations, application reviews, product demonstrations, and training sessions
  • Help improve customer confidence through responsive technical support and high-quality solution development

Technical Enablement & Knowledge Sharing

  • Support the development of flow control knowledge and application capability across the organization
  • Provide hands-on coaching and technical guidance to Account Managers and internal teams
  • Develop practical tools, templates, application guides, and best practices for common flow control applications
  • Contribute to improving consistency and scalability in flow control solution development

 Product Feedback & Continuous Improvement

  • Provide structured feedback to manufacturer partners and internal stakeholders based on field experience and customer needs
  • Identify recurring technical challenges, application gaps, and opportunities for solution improvement
  • Support evaluation and validation of new technologies and solutions

  Skills you’ll need:

  • Strong knowledge of process control, flow control, and industrial process applications
  • Understanding of control valves, valve actuation, instrumentation, and process automation systems
  • Ability to troubleshoot technical and application-related issues in industrial environments
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Ability to translate technical concepts into practical customer solutions
  • High learning agility and adaptability in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)

 Here’s what will set you apart:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Petroleum, Engineering Technology, or equivalent industry experience
  • Experience in industrial applications, process automation, instrumentation, valve automation, or application engineering
  • Experience with control valve sizing and selection
  • Knowledge of manufacturers and technologies such as Emerson, Flowserve, Masoneilan, Samson, Valmet, Rotork, AUMA, or similar solutions
  • Experience supporting customers in refining, chemical, oil & gas, water/wastewater, power, food & beverage, or other industrial process industries
  • Ability to build strong working relationships with customers and manufacturer partners
