Job Description
X-energy is hiring multiple experienced Systems Engineers to join its team. This role is responsible for executing rigorous systems engineering processes to support the design, integration, and management of complex nuclear systems throughout their lifecycles. Working within established model-based systems engineering frameworks, this position ensures all system components work together effectively and meet project requirements. The Systems Engineer focuses on verifying and validating product requirements according to the systems engineering lifecycle process while maintaining clear documentation of design decisions and system interfaces.
Job Profile Tasks/Responsibilities
  • Apply systems thinking and take a holistic approach to solve problems, analyze and design systems, considering the interdependencies and interactions between various components.
  • Lead and manage systems engineering lifecycle efforts surrounding:
    • Stakeholder and operational analysis
    • Requirement identification, decomposition, and management
    • Functional decomposition and modeling
    • Logical system architecture development and modeling
    • Physical product definition, interface management, and change control
    • Design integration and testing
    • System verification and validation
    • Concept of operations development and modeling
  • Develop and maintain system behavior models using model-based systems engineering (MBSE) tools within established Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) frameworks.
  • Lead the identification and monitoring of technical risks and the development of risk mitigation strategies.
  • Support value engineering activities including cost analyses, economic feasibility assessments, and cost reduction opportunity identification.
  • Write and review engineering documentation, reports, and communicate technical details and project progress to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Execute systems engineering processes within X-energy's quality management framework.
  • Work across engineering disciplines to ensure effective integration of system components and subsystems.
  • Perform work in accordance with X-energy quality assurance procedures to ensure engineering products meet required standards.
  • Always maintain professional demeanor and behavior in all forms of communication.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by manager.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in industrial and systems engineering, or other engineering related discipline from an ABET accredited institution required.
  • Level III: Typically, five years of experience in an engineering role required.
  • Level IV: Typically, ten years of experience in an engineering role required.
  • Level V: Typically, fifteen years of experience in an engineering role required.
  • Level VI: Typically, twenty years of experience in an engineering role required.
  • A master's degree in engineering or related field (may include a combination of experience obtained through an academic institution, e.g., design projects, research, or design teams, as well as professional experience) may be in lieu of two years of experience.
  • A Ph.D. in engineering or related field (may include a combination of experience obtained through an academic institution, e.g., design projects, research, or design teams, as well as professional experience) may be in lieu of three years of experience.
  • Previous experience at X-energy exceeding performance standards may be in lieu of years of experience.
  • Experience with systems engineering software tools.
  • Experience and/or knowledge in the following areas:

Compensation
As required by Maryland and other applicable state law, X Energy, LLC (X-energy) lists the expected compensation range for a publicly advertised job opportunity based upon the job requirements (e.g. education/training, experience, skill sets, etc.). Individual candidates who meet the job requirements for the posted position will be offered a salary within this range based on their respective levels of education/training, experience, and other qualifications unique to them. Salary ranges may vary based on the specific office location and region referenced in the posting to take into consideration differences in cost of living and may not be reflective of all regions. Please note that compensation ranges listed for US job postings reflect base salary only and do not include benefits or other incentives.
Offers within the posted salary range are commensurate with the individual's qualifications for the position, along with a view on internal equity, market data, and room for growth. The salary range for this position is:
Level III: $120,000- $145,000; Level IV: $145,000- 170,000; Level V: $170,000- $195,000; Level VI: $185,000- $215,000
