Job description

Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories (SEL) is looking for someone to join our Communications & Cyber Security team as a Software Engineer Intern in Boise, Idaho. If you're a student attending a local university and can work full-time during the summer and part-time during the school year, this could be the perfect opportunity for you. Gain valuable hands-on experience, collaborate with industry professionals, and help develop solutions that make a difference.
A typical day as a Software Engineer Intern might include:
  • Developing features and enhancements for internal tools and applications.
  • Assisting with validation, testing, and troubleshooting.
  • Writing and maintaining automated tests.
  • Learning about networking technologies and cybersecurity best practices.
  • Participating in code reviews and technical discussions.
  • Continuously identifying, measuring, and improving processes.
  • Following and apply SEL Values, Principles of Operations, and World Class Manufacturing Principles.
  • Embracing the mindset: Understand. Create. Simplify.
  • Other duties as assigned

This job might be for you if:
  • Current student pursuing a degree in computer science or equivalent with at least one year of technical coursework completed.
  • Experience with object-oriented programming through coursework, projects, or internships.
  • Basic understanding of computer science fundamentals including data structures and algorithms.
  • Experience with one or more programming languages such as Java, C, C++, C#, or Python.
  • Strong writing, documentation, and speaking skills.
  • Ability to learn new skills and assume new responsibilities

It is a plus if you have:
  • Coursework or hands-on experience in computer networking, network security, or cybersecurity.

Pay Range Data - $24.25 - $33.00 hourly
