Shive-Hattery presents an exciting opening for a Design Professional - Civil to boost our Transportation and Municipal practice in our growing Omaha, NE office. This office is located in the redeveloping area of Ralston , where we are contributeing to the exciting change in the area! The ideal candidate will range from a fresh graduate to a early career professional with up to three (3) years of experience.


As a member of our Public Infrastructure- Transportation group, you'll explore the intricacies of designing complex infrastructure, shaping your professional journey and leaving a lasting mark at the area we serve. This role offers invaluable hands-on experience essential for licensure, providing a solid foundation for your professional journey.

Join our team of engineers and contribute to the design of projects in the markets we serve. Although your initial work will be in Public Infrastructure , you will have the opportunity for diverse work spanning the industrial, healthcare, k-12, commercial, and government sectors. You'll play a pivotal role in preparing CAD drawings, reports, construction cost opinions, and technical specifications.


Design responsibilities will encompass a wide range of types, from roadway, trail, and parking lot design to site grading, and storm water management.


Additionally, you'll be involved in designing construction phasing, traffic control, and other site design components. As part of our commitment to excellence, you'll assist in onsite construction administration and observation, ensuring contractor compliance with contract documents and learning how your designs are constructed.

Requirements:
  • Education: Bachelorโ€™s degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited college/university
  • Experience: A recent graduate or early career Engineer Intern with 0 to 3 years
  • License/Certification: Successful completion of the Fundamentals Of Engineering (FE) exam and designation as an Engineer Intern (EI) with the drive to obtain a Professional Engineer (PE) license.
  • Software: Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Effectively manage multiple projects and multiple deadlines including planning, organizing, and prioritizing work
  • Work occasional overtime hours.
  • Valid driverโ€™s license and access to vehicle.
  • Climb ladders and work on elevated platforms and open grating.
  • Wear personal safety equipment required for specific clients and sites.
  • Pass drug and background screenings required for work at most client sites.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Practical, hands-on experience in Autodesk Revit, AutoCAD Civil 3D and OpenRoads Designer software.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, are paramount, along with a demonstrated commitment to client service.
  • Previous internships or summer experiences in general civil engineering or construction would be advantageous.
