Job description

Who you are:

We are always looking for amazing talent who can contribute to our growth and deliver results! Geotab is seeking a Software Developer Intern who will contribute to Geotab's core API and  backend services. If you love technology and are keen to join an industry leader while participating in the development of the interface that our customers and internal services equally depend on, we would love to hear from you!

What you'll do:

As a Software Developer Intern within Geotab, your key area of responsibility will be to help ensure the reliability, security, and performance of Geotab's public API platform. This position will involve writing high-performance C# code to support and improve the systems that keep our API fast, stable, and scalable, while leveraging AI tools and techniques to accelerate development, testing, and problem-solving. You'll gain exposure to distributed systems concepts and real-world software engineering practices, while learning what it takes to safely ship changes to a platform that processes billions of requests everyday.

To be successful in this role, you will need to be a self-starter with strong written and verbal communication skills, and have the ability to quickly understand complex, technical concepts related to Geotab's public API platform. In addition, the successful candidate will have strong analytical and time management skills with an ability to identify needs, develop effective solutions, and manage projects through completion. You will need to work closely with other members of the Team and cross-functional development teams.

The opportunity:
  • 8 month work-term beginning January 2027.
  • Full-time, paid internship: Monday - Friday, 37.5hrs/week.
  • Your first week at Geotab begins with 'GEO Launch' - a one-week Employee Orientation. Click here to learn more!
  • Learn more about the Geotab Campus Program here.
  • This posting is for an existing vacancy.
How you'll make an impact:
  • You will develop and maintain backend code (C#/.NET) for Geotab's public API platform.
  • You will write and maintain automated unit and integration tests to protect API behavior and prevent regressions.
  • You will investigate production data and monitoring dashboards to identify usage patterns, issues, and opportunities for improvement.
  • You will contribute to systems and processes that protect platform stability, security, and performance under heavy load
What you'll bring to the role:
  • Pursuing a Degree/Diploma in Computer Science, Math, Software Engineering or a related field.
  • AI Engineering:
    • Experience or coursework with AI/ML engineering - e.g., building with LLMs, prompt engineering, AI-assisted coding tools, or applying AI/ML techniques to real-world problems
  • Experience with object-oriented design, unit testing, optimization and multithreaded programming (C# and .Net 7+).
  • Understanding of version control principles (e.g., Git).
  • Interest in exploring cloud computing (e.g., GCP).
  • Familiarity of database design and relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL).
  • Eager to learn and contribute in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to quickly understand complex, technical concepts.
  • A Willingness to participate in team discussions and support fellow team members in a collaborative environment.
If you got this far, we hope you're feeling excited about this role! Even if you don't feel you meet every single requirement, we still encourage you to apply.

Please note: Geotab does not accept agency resumes and is not responsible for any fees related to unsolicited resumes. Please do not forward resumes to Geotab employees.
