Registered Nurse - OR (Circulate & Scrub - Cardiac OR)
Location: Rochester, New York (Onsite)
Work Type: Contract
Positions: 3
Hours: 36-40 Hours per Week
Shift Details

• Schedule: Variable (Day / Evening / Night)

The Registered Nurse - OR (Circulate & Scrub) is responsible for providing perioperative nursing care in a high-acuity Adult Cardiac Operating Room environment.
This role requires expertise in both scrubbing and circulating for complex cardiac procedures, supporting multidisciplinary surgical teams, and ensuring patient safety during advanced cardiac surgeries.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Care
• Independently perform both circulator and scrub roles
• Assist in complex cardiac procedures including CABG, valve replacement, and heart failure cases
• Support minimally invasive and structural heart procedures
Surgical Specialties Exposure
• Coronary artery bypass graft (CABG)
• TAVI / TAVR procedures
• Structural heart procedures (Bentall)
• Heart failure interventions (VAD, ECMO, Impella)
• Heart transplant procedures (preferred)
Patient Care & Safety
• Maintain sterile field and ensure patient safety
• Monitor patient status throughout surgical procedures
• Follow infection control and OR safety protocols
Team Collaboration
• Work closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and OR staff
• Support multidisciplinary cardiac teams
• Ensure smooth surgical workflow
Documentation & Compliance
• Maintain accurate surgical and patient records
• Ensure compliance with hospital and regulatory standards
• Follow EMR documentation protocols
Must-Have Qualifications
• Active New York RN License (Required)
• Minimum 2+ years of RN experience
• Experience in Operating Room (Scrub & Circulator roles)
• Ability to independently manage complex OR cases
• BLS Certification (AHA - Required)
• ACLS Certification (AHA - Required)
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience in Cardiac OR
• Experience in Level 1 Trauma centers
• Experience with TAVI / TAVR or transplant cases
