Job description

The Head of US Citigold/CPC Risk Assessment and Control Design is responsible for leading control oversight, risk assessment, and control design activities in support of the Citigold and Citigold Private Client businesses across North America. This role ensures strong alignment between business strategy, regulatory expectations, and effective risk management practices, while enabling business growth and an enhanced client experience. The role partners closely with Wealth business leadership, Risk, Compliance, and other control functions to identify key operational, compliance, and reputational risks and to design, implement, and sustain effective control frameworks. The position reports to the Head of Controls for US Retail Bank and Citigold.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage an innovative environment of diverse teams to encourage the development and implementation of robust control programs and strategies
  • Lead qualitative and quantitative assessments of operational, compliance, and reputational risks across Citigold/CPC client onboarding, KYC, servicing, suitability, and ongoing relationship management activities
  • Design and enhance preventative and detective controls to mitigate key risks while supporting efficient and scalable client experiences
  • Maintain an end-to-end view of Citigold/CPC processes to drive simplification, standardization, and automation of controls where appropriate
  • Act as a trusted control advisor to Citigold/CPC business leadership, supporting informed, risk-based decision-making
  • Partner with stakeholders to identify control gaps, emerging risks, and opportunities to strengthen the overall control environment
  • Support policy, process, and procedural enhancements to ensure alignment with global standards and local regulatory requirements
  • Oversee identification, root cause analysis, and remediation of control gaps, issues, and regulatory findings impacting Citigold/CPC
  • Support preparedness for internal audits, independent risk reviews, compliance testing, and regulatory examinations.
  • Track and escalate risks and issues in accordance with established governance and escalation protocols
  • Contribute to governance forums and management committees by providing clear risk insights, control effectiveness reporting, and recommended actions
  • Support enhancements to risk inventories, control assessments, and issue tracking processes relevant to the Citigold and CPC businesses
  • Lead and develop a team of controls professionals supporting Citigold/CPC, fostering a strong risk culture and high standards of execution
  • Attract, retain, and develop diverse talent with strong control, risk, and business acumen

Qualifications:
  • 15+ years of experience in operational risk management, compliance, audit, or other control-related functions in the financial services industry
  • Ability to identify, measure, and manage key risks and controls
  • Demonstrate sound business judgment
  • Ability to see the big pictures with high attention to critical details
  • Develop and implement strategy and process improvement initiatives.
  • In depth understanding of Citi's businesses and functions and their risk profiles
  • Developing new ideas and improving current processes to proactively mitigate risks
  • Requires an ability to provide challenge and make recommendation for risk and controls remediation
  • Excellent knowledge in the development and execution for controls
  • Proven experience in control related functions in the financial industry
  • Proven experience in implementing sustainable solutions and improving processes
  • Deep understanding of compliance laws, rules, regulations, and best practices
  • Deep understanding of Citi's Policies, Standards, and Procedures
  • Demonstrate exceptional leadership, decision-making, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent analytical skills to evaluate complex risk and control activities and processes
  • Ability to deliver compelling presentations and influence executive audiences
  • Strong sense of accountability and ownership, with strong results orientation
