Position Title: Senior Panel Assembly Site Manager
Department: Construction
Compensation: $110,000 - $125,000 + annual bonus (paid in local currency; range varies by location)

About the Role:

Join our team as a Panel Assembly and Shop Manager. At EQ-S, we are building energy management solutions. These solutions have indoor and outdoor equipment that need to be build and delivered to project sites in large volumes.

As Panel Assemlby Shop/Site Manager of EMS assembly team, you will build the assembly facility from ground up, oversee the daily operations, manage a team of skilled technicians, and ensure the smooth functioning of the assembly operations. If you have a passion for the clean industry and possess expertise in energy-related compute and networking equipment operations, hand tools, heavy lifting, mechanical & electrical knowledge, and power tools, join the team. This role combines hands-on technical leadership with shop-floor supervision and operational management in person on-site in a facility in Kitchener area. If you're ready to take ownership of building a busy shop with excellent project volume, we want to meet you.

Responsibilities

Shop Setup & Development (Initial Phase)

  • Lead layout planning of panel shop floor (workstations, testing area, kitting, storage).
  • Define assembly workflows and production standards.
  • Assist in selection of tools, equipment, and fixtures.
  • Develop standard operating procedures (SOPs) for panel assembly and testing.
  • Support hiring and training of panel technicians and assemblers.

Production & Operations

  • Supervise daily panel assembly activities.
  • Assign work and balance workload across technicians.
  • Ensure adherence to wiring standards, schematics, and quality requirements.
  • Coordinate with engineering on drawing revisions and technical clarifications.
  • Monitor productivity, cycle time, and labor efficiency.
  • Ensure on-time completion of production schedules.

Quality & Compliance

  • Implement quality control checkpoints.
  • Verify proper labeling, wiring standards, torque specs, and testing protocols.
  • Ensure compliance with UL / CE / NEC / IEC (as applicable).
  • Drive root cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • Maintain build documentation and revision control.

Coordination & Communication

  • Work closely with Mechanical and Electrical technicians, Material Planner / Procurement and Field Service / Installation Teams
  • Provide status updates on build progress via dashboards etc to stakeholders.
  • Identify risks to schedule and escalate early.

Safety

  • Enforce shop safety standards. Maintain clean and organized workstations.
  • Promote continuous improvement culture.

Required Qualifications

  • 8+ years experience in control panel assembly or electrical manufacturing.
  • 5+ years supervisory experience of day-to-day operations and overseeing electrical and mech technicians.
  • Previous experience in leading the setup, build-out of an assembly facility is required.
  • Strong ability to read electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
  • Knowledge of industrial control components and BOM (e.g. server racks, network switches, firewalls, breakers, relays, e-stops, din rails, etc.).
  • Familiarity with UL and IEC (or applicable) standards.
  • Experience in lean manufacturing, FAT and related automation improvements preferred.
  • Have quality mindset and drive for safety compliance to delivers panels on time and within budget and of high quality.
  • Familiarity with energy industry regulations, standards, and protocols.
