Job description

Eaton's Electrical Sector - Power Distribution & Controls Assemblies (PDCA) business is seeking a dynamic Supplier Quality Engineer to join our manufacturing team in Omaha, Nebraska. Our Omaha Power Center is expanding its operations in Bellevue. Eaton's new 370,000-square-foot facility is expected to be online in the first half of 2027.

The new facility will be designed and optimized to support high volume of switchgear structures at the quality and speed that AI data centers customers require. The engineered-to-order switchgear produced in the new facility can be integrated into Eaton's prefabricated power systems, which are designed to offer customers flexibility. Reporting to the Quality Manager, the Supplier Quality Engineer works with suppliers to monitor the effectiveness of their Quality Management System and partners with key stakeholders to continuously improve supplier performance (increase lifecycle, reduce scrap, improve manufacturing/repair processes).

In this role, you will: Manage supplier nonconformances (MRB, escapes, deviations) Drive root cause analysis (8D, 5-Why, Fishbone) Verify effectiveness of corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) Support containment planning and risk mitigation Track supplier KPIs: Quality (PPM, defect rates), Delivery, Cost of poor quality (COPQ) Maintain Approved Supplier Lists (ASL) Conduct supplier risk assessments and performance reviews Follow up, evaluate and work on the approval of PPAP from external and internal suppliers Oversee and participate in the development and initiation of inspection, testing and evaluation techniques for incoming goods. Evaluate inspection techniques and recommends changes. Work with Production, Quality Assurance, Materials and other departments to define quality standards and procedures.

Review and analyze inspection test results and oversees the disposition of unaccepted items with affected suppliers and companies. Analyze supplier performance both in-house on supplier premises as required. Apply standard statistical techniques to analyze and evaluate studies.

Team with suppliers to define and document Process Flow Diagrams, Process FMEAs, AIAG Process Control Plans and Inspection plans. Negotiate with suppliers to find equitable solutions to problems identified. Visit supplier locations to evaluate quality standards and processes.

Communicate with appropriate personnel regarding significant changes. Control nonconforming material in accordance with Eaton procedures. Flows down of external/internal quality requirements to suppliers.

Support continuous improvement initiatives. Support internal audit requirements in accordance with Eaton procedures. Achieve objectives as detailed by Quality Management.

Basic Required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in electrical, mechanical engineering, or a related engineering discipline from an accredited insitution Minimum of 3 years of experience in quality engineering in a manufacturing setting Demonstrated experience with Supplier Performance Management, Supplier Corrective Actions and Non-conforming Material Dispositions, MRB, and CONC (Const of Non-Conformance) Willingness to travel locally and nationally to supplier sites as needed, up to 10% No relocation benefit is being offered for this position. Only candidates within a 50-mile radius of the posted location will be considered. Active Duty Military Service member candidates are exempt from the geographical area limitation.

This means that Eaton will not support any CPT, OPT, or STEM OPT plans, F-1 to H-1B, H-1B cap registration, O-1, E-3, TN status, I-485 job portability, etc. Preferred Qualifications: Minimum of 5 years of experience in quality engineering Experience in electrical equipment, power distribution, switchgear, transformer, or energy-related industries Strong technical understanding of medium-voltage (MV) switchgear, electrical panels, protection components, and power distribution systems.

Hands-on experience in testing, validation, failure investigation, and field return analysis Knowledge of SAP, or similar platforms Your Skills: Familiarity with ISO 9001 standards and audit experience is a plus. Knowledge of quality tools and systems (FMEA, Control Plans, SPC, and MSA), and problem-solving methodologies (8D, RCA, 5 Why, Ishikawa for example) Understanding of traceability systems, error-proofing (Poka-Yoke), and process control to support zero-defect objectives. Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, tolerance analyses, and measurement data.

Strong ability to analyze technical data, warranty data, and field performance trends. Experience with Dock-to-Stock and Skip-lot Programs. Experience with Supplier Improvement Programs, Supplier Quality Plans.
