Job Description:
The FLARE Networked & Collaborative Systems Area Engineer will contribute to AI/ML implementation and autonomous vehicle software and hardware development. The engineer will write code for guidance, navigation, and control of autonomous agents that operate in GPS-denied environments. Data analysis to derive meaningful insights. The engineer will collect data from experiments for further processing, error analysis, algorithm improvement and debugging and will document and maintain code via version control software to ensure that tools and software frameworks are preserved, easily accessible and maintainable. Support technical proposal and scientific publications.
Expected Salary:
$35.92 - $40.71 per hour; commensurate with experience
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Science, Computer Science, Electrical, Aerospace, or related field)
  • Programming experience either in C++ or Python
  • 2+ years of experience on Robotics Research

Preferred:
  • Master's degree in Engineering (Aerospace, Electrical, Computer, Mechanical, Computer Science, or related field)
  • Strong analytical reasoning, organizational, communication, and prioritization skills.
  • 2 years of professional experience with research experience in GPS-denied guidance, navigation, and control (GNC), software development, including testing, and troubleshooting
  • Linux development environment and command line interface, MATLAB, C++, and Python, ROS, with implementations both in ROS1 and ROS2
  • Computer vision to include clustering-based segmentation algorithms and visual odometry
  • Strong understanding of the breadth of machine learning to include supervised, unsupervised learning, and reinforcement learning approaches, both theoretically and practically
  • Professional experience writing technical reports to include academic papers and general reports, collaborating with and mentoring junior engineers, graduate students, and undergraduate interns
  • Professional experience with motion capture systems, visual servoing applications, ROSflight and Pixhawk flight control systems
