Job description

Job Summary:
The D. E. Shaw group seeks an accomplished engineer to join its innovative trading systems ops group. The engineer will provide real-time support for the firm's proprietary trading systems and related trading infrastructure, engaging in troubleshooting, deployment of trading strategies, and collaboration with various teams.
Responsibilities:
• Discovery and troubleshooting of production issues, development of front-office reports, and communication with counterparties.
• Deployment of new trading strategies and features, design and documentation of operational procedures, and software infrastructure development and maintenance.
• Close interaction with developers, quants, and traders, as well as coordination with remote support staff and other IT groups around releases and upgrades.
Qualifications:
Required:
• Comfort working in a UNIX environment
• Proficiency in UNIX shell scripting
• Proficiency in Python
• Keen software debugging abilities
• Excellent communication skills
• Careful attention to detail
• A knack for prioritization
• Drive to identify the source of problems and pursue them to resolution
• Experience in a tech ops, dev ops, or site reliability engineer role
• Degree in computer science or a related engineering discipline
Preferred:
• Basic understanding of probability and statistics
