This role offers an exciting opportunity to create highly detailed aircraft liveries for Microsoft Flight Simulator.
You will transform real-world airline branding, custom concepts, and community ideas into authentic digital aircraft designs.
The position combines visual artistry, 3D texturing, technical precision, and a strong understanding of aviation aesthetics.
You will work closely with artists and developers to ensure liveries are visually accurate and technically optimized for the simulator.
Your work will need to remain convincing across different lighting conditions while maintaining strong performance.
Attention to detail, consistency, and the ability to interpret varied visual references will be essential to your success.
This is an excellent opportunity for a mid-level artist to contribute to high-profile aircraft projects while strengthening their professional portfolio.

Accountabilities
  • Design and produce authentic, high-fidelity aircraft liveries based on real-world airline references, branding materials, and photography.
  • Create custom liveries based on internal concepts, community requests, and project requirements.
  • Apply liveries accurately to 3D aircraft models and UV layouts, ensuring decals and base textures are positioned without distortion.
  • Test liveries within Microsoft Flight Simulator to verify visual quality, accuracy, compatibility, and performance.
  • Optimize textures and livery assets to meet simulator standards and maintain efficient in-game performance.
  • Collaborate closely with artists and developers to maintain consistent quality, visual style, and production workflows.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve texture, decal, material, and other livery-related issues within the simulator pipeline.
  • Research and interpret reference materials to accurately reproduce aircraft markings, colors, branding, and visual details.
  • Manage assigned work efficiently and deliver high-quality assets within agreed deadlines.
Requirements
  • Professional proficiency with Adobe Photoshop for aircraft texture and livery creation.
  • Experience with Autodesk 3ds Max or Blender, particularly for 3D decal-based livery creation and application.
  • Strong understanding of visual design, composition, texture work, and detail-oriented asset creation.
  • Familiarity with applying and testing textures and decal models on Microsoft Flight Simulator 3D assets.
  • Ability to work accurately from varied references, including airline branding, aircraft photography, logos, and other visual materials.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing accurate, polished, and visually consistent work.
  • Ability to troubleshoot texture and asset issues and adapt designs to technical requirements.
  • Organized, self-motivated, and capable of managing deadlines independently in a remote environment.
  • Comfortable collaborating and communicating professionally in English.
  • Preferred: Previous experience creating aircraft liveries for Microsoft Flight Simulator, Prepar3D, X-Plane, or similar flight simulation platforms.
  • Preferred: Familiarity with the MSFS texture system, material setups, and export workflows.
  • Preferred: Experience with Substance Painter or similar texturing software.
  • Preferred: Personal interest or experience in aviation, digital design, aircraft simulation, or related creative fields.
Benefits
  • Competitive contractor rates.
  • Opportunity to showcase your work through high-profile, highly detailed aircraft projects.
  • Portfolio-building opportunities within a specialized digital art and simulation environment.
  • Supportive and collaborative creative team culture.
  • Opportunities for continuous learning and professional development.
  • Exposure to professional aircraft livery creation, 3D asset workflows, and simulator-specific production processes.
  • Remote working arrangement.
