Job description

Via is on a mission to create public transportation systems that provide far greater access to jobs, healthcare, and education. Our platform serves as the technology backbone for modern transit networks, transforming antiquated and siloed public transportation systems into smart, data-driven, and efficient digital networks. With hundreds of agency partners around the world, Via is recognized as the leading transportation technology and service provider globally.

About the role:

Remix is Via's premier transit planning and scheduling platform, trusted by transit agencies worldwide to design networks, model scenarios, and optimize service. We're looking for a Director of Product to define and drive the next era of Remix: a multimodal planning and scheduling system that gives transit agencies a single, authoritative place to make smarter decisions across every service type they operate.

This is a high-impact, high-ownership role. You will shape the vision for how agencies move from static schedules to data-driven, dynamically optimized operations — balancing labor union rules and contractual constraints with the operational agility modern transit demands. You will own the end-to-end product experience from strategic planning through live execution, and your work will directly affect how millions of riders experience public transit every day.

What you will do:
  • Define and own the product vision and roadmap for Remix as the global standard for multimodal transit planning and scheduling, spanning fixed route, paratransit, microtransit, and emerging modes
  • Build the framework for data-driven scheduling — enabling agencies to make optimal use of driver and vehicle time through intelligent analysis of ridership patterns, operational constraints, and service goals
  • Deeply understand and incorporate labor union rules, collective bargaining agreements, and workforce regulations into the product in a way that is structured yet flexible enough to adapt as those rules evolve
  • Connect planning and scheduling seamlessly to live operations, reducing the gap between what is scheduled and what is executed — improving accuracy, dispatcher confidence, and rider reliability
  • Partner closely with engineering, design, data science, and GTM teams to move from vision to shipped product with clear milestones and measurable outcomes
  • Engage directly and frequently with transit planners, schedulers, and operations leaders to surface unmet needs and validate product direction
  • Stay current on industry trends, emerging regulations, and competitive dynamics to keep Remix ahead of the market
Who You Are:
  • You have 10+ years of product management experience, including ownership of complex enterprise software products
  • Have a track record of shipping high-quality products for sophisticated, workflow-heavy enterprise environments where the cost of getting it wrong is high
  • Are a systems thinker who can hold both strategic vision and operational detail — you know when to zoom out and when to get into the weeds
  • Have strong instincts for simplifying complexity: translating divergent customer needs and intricate business rules into clean, scalable product decisions
  • Bring deep empathy for the professionals who use your product daily — planners, schedulers, dispatchers — and design with their real working context in mind
  • Can quickly become technically fluent in the underlying data models and entities that power scheduling and operations systems — blocks, runs, trips, stops, vehicles, duties, pairings — and can engage at that level of specificity with engineers and architects
  • Are a strong, credible voice in technical architecture decisions alongside your engineering partners, capable of evaluating tradeoffs and advocating for platform choices that serve both current product needs and long‑term scalability
  • Experience with resource management, labor scheduling, or workforce optimization software is a strong plus
  • Experience in transportation, transit, or logistics is a plus but not required — intellectual curiosity and the ability to learn technical domains quickly matter more
Compensation and Benefits:
  • Base salary range: $200,000-$250,000, determined by experience and skills. Total compensation also includes variable pay and equity.
  • Comprehensive health coverage, with low-cost dental and vision plans.
  • A 401(k) with a generous company match and vesting.
  • Fully paid parental leave for new parents, with extended leave options.
  • Additional benefits (mental health, pet insurance, and other wellness perks).
  • 20 days of paid time off (PTO) annually.

There has never been a more exciting time to be on the cutting edge of public mobility. Via is an equal opportunity employer.
