Job description

Job Summary:
D.R. Horton, Inc. is the largest homebuilder in the U.S. and is seeking a Business Intelligence Developer II responsible for designing and optimizing enterprise business intelligence and reporting solutions. The role involves working with the Microsoft BI ecosystem and modern data stack platforms to deliver scalable reporting frameworks and actionable insights for strategic decision-making.
Responsibilities:
• Design, develop, and maintain enterprise BI solutions, including dashboards, scorecards, reports, semantic models, datasets, and governed reporting assets.
• Develop and support reporting solutions using Power BI, Power BI Report Server, SSAS Tabular, SSRS, SSIS, SQL Server, and related Microsoft BI technologies.
• Support modern data platform initiatives involving Snowflake, dbt, Fivetran, Collate, OpenTofu/Terraform, data orchestration, metadata management, lineage, and data governance.
• Write, optimize, and troubleshoot complex SQL queries, stored procedures, views, functions, and backend reporting objects.
• Design, build, and maintain ETL/ELT processes, data models, data marts, and automated reporting workflows.
• Collaborate with business leaders, analysts, developers, and data engineering teams to translate reporting and analytics requirements into scalable technical solutions.
• Analyze complex data sets to identify trends, performance metrics, operational opportunities, and actionable business insights.
• Troubleshoot production reporting issues, data discrepancies, performance problems, security access, publishing issues, and end-user support requests.
• Test reports, dashboards, datasets, and data models to ensure accuracy, consistency, and alignment with business requirements.
• Develop and maintain reporting standards, business definitions, metadata documentation, and governance practices to support consistent enterprise reporting.
• Provide technical guidance and support to BI developers, analysts, reporting users, and support teams.
• Conduct all business in a professional and ethical manner to serve customers and increase the goodwill and profit of the company.
• Maintain regular and reliable attendance on-site at the corporate office.
Qualifications:
Required:
• Bachelor’s degree in Management Information Systems, Computer Science, Data Analytics, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field required.
• Minimum of five years of experience designing, developing, and supporting enterprise business intelligence, reporting, data warehousing, or analytics solutions required.
• Strong SQL development skills required, including complex queries, stored procedures, views, functions, troubleshooting, performance tuning, and data modeling.
• Proficient knowledge of Power BI, including Power Query, data modeling, DAX, report creation, publishing, security, and deployment options.
• Knowledge of BI architecture, data warehousing concepts, ETL/ELT processes, semantic modeling, reporting frameworks, and enterprise analytics platforms.
• Ability to translate complex business requirements into scalable technical solutions and communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Strong verbal, written communication, organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Preferred:
• Experience with modern data stack technologies such as Snowflake, dbt, Fivetran, Collate, OpenTofu/Terraform, orchestration tools, metadata management, and data governance platforms preferred.
• Four to seven years of experience with Microsoft BI platforms, including Power BI, Power BI Report Server, SSIS, SSRS, SSAS Tabular, and SQL Server preferred.
• Experience supporting operational, financial, construction, mortgage, real estate, homebuilding, or related industry reporting preferred.
• Experience with DAX preferred.
• JD Edwards experience preferred.
• Understanding of accounting processes and basic general ledger concepts preferred.
• Experience with metadata management, data cataloging, lineage, governance, semantic modeling, and governed self-service analytics preferred.
