About the Role:
Tripoint Solutions is seeking an experienced Senior Python Developer to support our federal government contract. This role will focus on developing, maintaining, and improving software solutions that streamline the intake, routing, processing, and analysis of citizen-submitted reports.
The successful candidate will work within a cross-functional, multidisciplinary Agile team to deliver secure, accessible, scalable, and user-focused digital services. The position requires strong technical expertise, collaboration skills, and the ability to solve complex engineering challenges while communicating effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Location: Remote. The selected candidate must be currently located in, or willing to relocate to, a state supported by Tripoint Solutions corporate offices: AL, CO, DC, DE, FL, GA, IL, IN, KS, LA, MD, MN, MS, NC, NJ, OH, PA, SC, TN, TX, or VA. (No relocation assistance provided)

Responsibilities:
  • Design, develop, test, and maintain web applications using Python, Django, and Flask.
  • Implement enhancements and new features that improve system performance, usability, and workflow efficiency.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues through code analysis, debugging, and system monitoring.
  • Maintain and update application dependencies and libraries to meet security and compliance requirements.
  • Collaborate with product owners, designers, and technical teams to deliver solutions incrementally and iteratively.
  • Participate in code reviews and contribute to engineering best practices.
  • Develop and maintain automated tests to ensure application reliability and long-term maintainability.
  • Support CI/CD pipelines and deployment processes.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation.
  • Ensure all delivered solutions meet accessibility, security, and quality standards.
  • Collaborate with data scientists and engineers to integrate Jupyter Notebook workflows into production environments.
  • Manage version control and code collaboration using Git, ensuring smooth and efficient team workflows.
  • Optimize database interactions and schema design using PostgreSQL to support application performance and scalability.
  • Utilize Unix/Linux environments for development, deployment, and troubleshooting of applications.
  • Work with front-end technologies including HTML and JavaScript to support full-stack development needs.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • 5+ years of professional experience in Python development with a strong portfolio of projects.
  • Hands-on experience developing and maintaining applications using Django and Flask.
  • Proficiency in Flask framework and building RESTful APIs.
  • Experience with Unix/Linux operating systems and command-line tools.
  • Strong knowledge of Git for version control and collaborative development.
  • Hands-on experience with PostgreSQL database design and query optimization.
  • Familiarity with test-driven development methodologies and automated testing frameworks.
  • Working knowledge of front-end technologies including HTML and JavaScript.
  • Experience deploying and supporting applications on cloud-based platforms such as AWS, Cloud Foundry-based environments, Heroku, or similar PaaS solutions.
  • Experience using Jupyter Notebooks for data analysis, reporting, or visualization.
  • Ability to explain technical concepts and architectural decisions to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Familiarity with containerization technologies such as Docker and orchestration tools like Kubernetes.
  • Contributions to open-source Python projects or active participation in developer communities.
  • Experience with advanced data processing or machine learning pipelines integrated with Python applications.
  • Experience supporting federal government, mission-driven applications.
  • Knowledge of web accessibility standards, including WCAG and Section 508 compliance.
  • Familiarity with secure software development practices and application security requirements.
  • Experience working in Agile development environments.
  • Experience supporting cloud-hosted applications and modern DevSecOps practices.
