Job description

Join Valmet's team of experts as a Field Services Engineer

We're hiring Field Services professionals to support the installation and maintenance of large-scale manufacturing equipment run by our customers. If you are technically inclined, willing to travel and motivated to take the lead on projects at customer sites then this role is for you.

The candidate in this position will perform process and field services for a wide variety of Pulp & Energy Solutions equipment and products found in a Pulp & Paper mill.

  • Start-ups, commissioning services
  • Inspections and condition assessments
  • Maintenance and Service Agreements
  • Tune-ups (process & emissions)
  • Troubleshooting
  • Outage planning and execution.
  • Construction advising on rebuild/upgrade & capital projects.
  • Emergency assistance and root cause analysis.
  • Other services as directed (O&M procedure development, data monitoring & reporting, etc.).
  • Prepare and submit detailed service reports as directed in a timely manner.
  • Work in team environment with Field Service Engineers, Product Engineers and Sales personnel.
  • Develop relationships with key customers and conduct service sales visits.
  • You'll work independently, therefore, you must demonstrate strong facilitation and problem-solving skills.
  • Provide hands-on supervision of pulp & paper equipment maintenance, repair, rebuild, troubleshooting and installation at customer sites.
  • In collaboration with engineering and sales personnel you will work on diagnosing and providing technical solutions to our customers during scheduled and emergency service shutdowns.
  • This position requires at least 70% of travel time.

This is a remote regional position.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering Technology; minimum of five years of related hands-on mechanical experience in roles like maintenance mechanic, mechanical construction foreman or technician.
  • Working knowledge of electronics, hydraulics, pneumatics, welding, rigging, pipefitting, millwrighting and machining preferred. Requires the ability to read blueprints and diagrams.
  • Must be able to oversee projects and manage all aspects of leading a sub-contractor crew.
  • Ability to travel by air or automobile up to 200 days a year. Mostly domestically, sometimes internationally.

We're looking for individuals who are self-motivated and enjoy learning new things. Strong mechanical aptitude; hydraulic and pneumatic background a plus; good communication and organizational skills required, along with strong PC skills.
