Job description

The S/L/A/M Collaborative has an opportunity for a Project Accountant to join our firm at our office in Glastonbury, CT. As a Project Accountant, you will be responsible for accurate and timely general accounting of projects.

Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Provides accurate and timely accounting, reporting, and project information for assigned projects
  • Prepares monthly invoices, budgets, and project management reports
  • Sets up and maintains projects in Deltek Vantagepoint according to project terms
  • Tracks and inputs labor and cost budget analysis for assigned projects
  • Answers inquiries from staff, vendors, or clients and communicates financial information to PICs and Project Managers (including status of labor hour budgets)
  • Maintains accounting files
  • Reviews consultant invoices, communicates with consultants, and submits their invoices for review and approval by Project Manager
  • Reviews accounts receivable for project payments and review consultant invoices for possible payments; submits payment requests to accounts payable for processing
  • Reviews project contracts and additional service requests to understand the financial requirements on each project
  • Analyzes project cost reports and meets frequently with Finance Management and Project Managers to review status of projects for invoicing, profitability, earnings, and costs
  • Understands how projects earn revenue and accrue costs in the accounting system and assist with analyzing and recording monthly project revenue and cost accruals
  • Continuously collaborate with PICs and or internal team members
  • Support the needs of both internal and external clients
  • Maintain positive communications and work with colleagues and clients


Key Skills & Qualifications Required:

  • 5+ years of experience
  • Knowledge of accounting, finance principles and practices, and the analysis and reporting of financial-related reports
  • Advanced knowledge of project accounting concepts and practices
  • Strong communication skills and team-oriented professional
  • Proficiency in Deltek Vantagepoint or similar project accounting software required
  • Experience in the Architecture and/or Construction industry preferred
  • Ability to work independently with proficient organizational skills
  • Highly motivated, good team player with the ability to juggle multiple tasks, collaborate with large multi-disciplinary teams, and work well under deadlines
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
