Overview

Game Mathematicians at Lighthouse Studio work at the core of game development-taking math logic created by 3rd party partners and turning it into something our games can actually use.

This role is highly collaborative. You'll work across a cross-functional team that includes Game Producers, Project Managers, Graphic Artists, Mathematicians, Software Developers, Technical Artists, Test Engineers, and 3rd party contractors to bring games from concept through delivery.

A big part of the job is making sure game math performs exactly as expected. That means building and integrating math logic into our math engine, running simulations, analyzing payouts, and working with the team to identify and resolve any deviations-while ensuring everything meets regulatory and jurisdictional requirements and aligns with the game's design vision.

What you'll be doing:

Develop game code to integrate 3rd party math logic into the math engine (with mentor support)

Troubleshoot and refine math logic to meet market and regulatory requirements

Calculate and simulate expected game payouts and investigate discrepancies

Partner with mathematicians, developers, producers, and test engineers to resolve issues

Contribute to verification processes through simulations, calculation programs, and peer reviews

Document game math logic and support handoff to software development teams

Use statistical analysis to evaluate data and improve game features

Support 3rd party tools, platforms, and hardware coordination

Help manage contractor access, licenses, and related systems

Respond to questions related to game function and math logic

What we're looking for

Degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, Computer Science, or similar

Strong foundation in probability, combinatorics, and statistics

Programming experience (Python, C++, C#, VBA, etc.)

Experience with data analysis and Excel

Ability to manage multiple projects and work collaboratively

Strong communication skills (technical and non-technical)

Nice to have:

Background in advanced math topics (game theory, graph theory, etc.)

Experience with mathematical modeling

Interest in the gaming industry

Keys to Success

 Building collaborative relationships
Decision making
Drive results
Foster innovation
Personal energy
Self-leadership
