About the Position

We are seeking a Civil Project Engineer and/or Project Manager to plan, design, and manage civil engineering projects from concept through construction. This role offers a path to grow both technical and project management responsibilities within our team.

Position Type:

Full-time

Reports To:

Team Leader / Office Manager

Primary Responsibilities

Engineering & Design

  • Plan and design moderately complex civil projects — developing drawings, specifications, calculations, cost estimates, and reports in coordination with other disciplines.
  • Apply engineering judgment to evaluate alternatives and ensure compliance with applicable codes and regulations.
  • Stamp or seal work performed by you and by those under your direct supervision.
  • Oversee and mentor graduate engineers and initiate and maintain QA/QC for engineering deliverables.

Project & Client Management

  • Develop and manage project scope, task lists, budgets, and milestone schedules, ensuring on-time, on-budget performance across multiple projects.
  • Serve as the primary client contact — documenting expectations, establishing communication and approval procedures, and fostering enduring relationships.
  • Prepare and administer client agreements, change orders, and progress reports; monitor financial performance, invoicing, and collections.
  • Develop and maintain the Project Management Plan and lead project kickoff, coordination, and review meetings.
  • Coordinate Engineering, Survey, CAD, GIS, and Construction needs

Marketing & Business Development

  • Support proposals, presentations, and business development; pursue cross-selling and cultivate new and existing client relationships.

Other

  • Maintain and expand professional capabilities through continuing education, certifications, and industry involvement

Experience & Certifications Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in an applicable engineering discipline, or equivalent experience.
  • Project Engineer: 4+ years of related experience. Project Manager: 8+ years of engineering experience, including 2+ years of project or client management.
  • Utah Professional Engineer (PE)
  • Proven track record of working with technical teams and fostering client relationships.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Strong knowledge of civil engineering principles and the project management delivery process.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills, with the ability to prepare concise technical reports.
  • Self-motivated and team-oriented, able to work independently and manage multiple priorities under pressure.
  • Basic understanding of project budgeting and forecasting.
  • Proficient in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook
