Job Summary:
The Assistant Coach supports the Head Coach in planning, organizing, and conducting the school's athletic program. This position helps promote student growth, teamwork, sportsmanship, and a positive athletic experience, in alignment with the school's mission and policies.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Assist the Head Coach in developing and implementing practice plans and game strategies.
  • Support student-athletes in developing athletic skills, discipline, teamwork, and respect.
  • Supervise student-athletes during practices, games, travel, and other team activities to ensure safety and appropriate behavior.
  • Help maintain equipment, uniforms, and facilities in good condition.
  • Assist with communication to athletes, parents, and school staff regarding schedules, expectations, and team updates.
  • Uphold all school, conference, and state athletic association rules and regulations.
  • Model good sportsmanship and positive conduct at all times.
  • Encourage academic success and monitor athlete eligibility as needed.
  • Attend required meetings, trainings, and professional development sessions.
  • Support the Head Coach in administrative duties such as roster management, transportation arrangements, and game setup/cleanup.
  • Serve as a role model and mentor, fostering a positive, inclusive, and respectful team culture.

Qualifications:
  • Prior coaching or playing experience in the sport preferred.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • CPR/First Aid certification (or ability to obtain).
  • Knowledge of rules, techniques, and safety considerations of the sport.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with students, parents, staff, and community members.

Working Conditions:
  • Requires evenings, weekends, and occasional travel.
  • Outdoor and indoor activity in varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to supervise and manage groups of students safely.
