NYU Grossman School of Medicine (NYUGSOM) is seeking applications from qualified individuals for the tenure-track faculty position of Division Director of Epidemiology in the Department of Population Health. The Dean and faculty consider this an exceptional opportunity to lead a preeminent, nationally recognized program in close collaboration with the departments of NYUGSOM and other schools and colleges of New York University.
NYUGSOM's Department of Population Health & Division of Epidemiology
NYUGSOM is seeking a visionary, dynamic and creative Division Director, with a distinguished record of leadership, scholarship, extramural grant funding, and other impactful achievements in the field of epidemiology, who can expand and strategically lead a thriving Division in research, education, and practice. The Division is housed in the highly regarded Department of Population Health, which engages in impact-oriented research to bridge the worlds of medical care and population health.
The Division of Epidemiology has existing expertise in causal inference methods, real-world data analyses, social epidemiology, population health surveillance, and the epidemiology of substance use, cancer, diabetes, and cardiovascular disease. The mission of the Division is to conduct innovative, rigorous research to discover the causes of and solutions for pressing health problems and health inequities in a changing world; train the next generation of leading scholars and health professionals in state-of-the-art epidemiologic methods; and translate research to impact population health and policy. What sets this Division apart from others is:
  • Its rigorous focus on consequentialist epidemiology
  • Combining of epidemiologic and artificial intelligence methods for causal inference
  • Close relationships with community and government agency partners
  • Multidisciplinary integration within the nation's top-funded Department of Population Health and one of the leading health systems in the United States

Qualifications
The candidate should have the ability to foster and sustain research collaborations and partnerships across our academic system and with external communities and groups.
The candidate should have a demonstrated track record of leadership in a university, medical center or research institute setting, and a strong track record of extramural funding, including NIH and/or foundation funding. Successful candidates will have a doctoral degree in relevant population sciences fields such as public health, implementation science, behavioral science, systems science, sociology, or anthropology, OR a medical degree with advanced training in health disparities and equity research and community-engaged or participatory research methods and approaches. They must be a national leader in the field of epidemiology. The new Director is expected to engage and inspire a wide range of partners to develop and advance pertinent research and education programs related to epidemiology and be a strong systematic thinker capable of leading large-scale initiatives.
Salary Range
NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The annual salary range is $295,000 to $480,000 and is commensurate with qualifications and experience.
Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including faculty appointment, credentials, research funding history, specialty, and health system needs. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
