Job description

Job Purpose
Coordinate, distribute, assign, and oversee Quality Control functions. Follow established procedures and guidelines in testing and conducting routine and non-routine analysis of raw materials, in-process, and finished products using a variety of testing devices to maintain product quality. Ensure laboratory and safety rules/procedures are followed by the Quality Control Technicians. Will assist team by answering questions, addressing issues, and maintaining communication between Supply Chain and Research Development/Innovation departments.
Key Responsibilities
  • Follow established safety rules and procedures. Update/create standard operating procedures and quality control methods.
  • Ensure tasks are defined and assigned.
  • Perform a variety of testing processes on production batches to measure product's physical or chemical characteristics. Tests include, but are not limited to, weight per unit of measure, flow, gloss, and color characteristics (compared with standards).
  • Evaluate test methods for repeatability.
  • Ensure material sheets are inspected and documented correctly with adds, results, and initials. The data should be complete and written legibly.
  • Maintain and calibrate test equipment, creating calibration test plans.
  • Maintain records and charts for all products that are checked by the team.
  • Maintain and update training curriculum.
  • Assign employees to other positions as needed to ensure batches and essential tasks are completed.
  • Identify potential causes of complaints, ensuring that the escalation policy is followed.
  • Ensure all work areas are clean at the end of the shift.

Job Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent. Bachelor of Science in Chemistry or related field preferred.
  • 2 years' laboratory experience. Must be knowledgeable of chemical composition, structure, and reactions for production techniques.
  • 1 year people management experience. Must be able to lead a team with direction and communication.
  • Ability to use equipment safely and effectively. Will monitor gauges, dials, or display screens to ensure proper operation of equipment.
  • Ability to read, comprehend, and follow safety instructions/guidelines.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills. Will use root cause analysis to address issues and recommend/implement solutions.
  • Knowledge of basic math to include addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and measurements.
  • Knowledge of color match and adjustment preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft office. Intermediate to advanced Excel skills. Experience using SAP preferred.

Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to chemical agents.
  • Near vision ability to read labels and review details up close with or without corrective lenses.
  • Must be able to stand or walk for long periods of time.

Work Schedule
This position will work a weekly rotating schedule between Shift A and Shift B.
  • Shift A : 7:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. (EDT)
  • Shift B : 3:00 p.m. - 11:00 p.m. (EDT)

Rewards and Benefits
The hourly rate for this position will be $31.25 - $33.65 based upon experience. This is the range that we in good faith anticipate relying on when setting wages for this position. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This salary range may also be modified in the future. The position is eligible for overtime for hours worked more than forty (40) in a given work week.
This position is also eligible for an annual bonus target of 4%, based on individual and company performance.
