Job description

Butterfly Staffing is partnering with an established Virginia-based commercial general contractor to identify an experienced Project Manager with direct General Contractor (GC) experience.

This role is execution-focused and requires hands-on responsibility for subcontractor coordination, schedule management, job cost control, and day-to-day project execution. This is not an Owner's Representative or Program Management role.

Responsibilities

  • Manage commercial construction projects from contract award through closeout

  • Serve as the General Contractor's Project Manager with accountability for execution

  • Directly manage subcontractors, vendors, and trade coordination

  • Partner closely with the Project Superintendent on daily field operations

  • Develop, maintain, and manage project schedules (CPM / critical path)

  • Review and manage RFIs, submittals, change orders, and invoices

  • Monitor job cost reports and project profitability

  • Participate in weekly job status meetings and monthly financial reviews

  • Maintain regular jobsite presence to ensure compliance with plans, specifications, and schedule

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of experience as a Project Manager employed by a General Contractor

  • Commercial construction project experience

  • Direct responsibility for subcontractor management and field coordination

  • Strong understanding of construction means and methods

Preferred

  • Construction Management or related degree

  • Experience with Microsoft Project, Bluebeam, CMIC, or similar PM software

Candidates whose experience is primarily in Owner's Representative, Program Management, Facilities Management, or advisory roles without documented GC-employed PM experience may not be a fit.
