Qualification Requirements:

  • Ontario Certificate of Qualification as Millwright.
  • Skills gained from a minimum of 2 years of experience working as Millwright/Maintenance Technician.
    • Knowledge of Automotive industry equipment, hydraulic and mechanical stamping presses, lasers, robots, welders, CNC equipment, etc. an asset.
  • Knowledge of electrical, plumbing, and mechanical/HVAC systems.
  • Knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic circuits and the ability to trouble shoot valves, accumulators, pilot operated check valves, cylinders and all associated hardware.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing equipment i.e. stamping presses (hydraulic and mechanical), gear boxes, drive systems, ball screws, etc.
  • Able to read and interpret drawings, blueprints, schematics and specifications.
  • Basic Electrical / PLC knowledge.
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, communication and problem solving skills.
  • Able to be flexible in hours of work in order to meet internal/external customer requirements (scheduled and non-scheduled overtime, etc.).
  • Must be able to operate Forklift, Crane, and Articulating Boom/Manlift - training can be provided.
  • Physically able to perform the essential duties of the position.
  • Valid passport and driver's license.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Compensation Range: $35 to $44/hour
  • Immediate, Open Position
  • Maintain and repair plant facilities.
    • Perform facilities/grounds maintenance - general repairs, minor plumbing, wall repair.
    • Support and coordinate repairs on HVAC, compressors, internal heaters.
    • Responsible for maintenance and repairs on sprinkler and fire management systems in compliance with health and safety requirements.
    • Coordinate and manage general building maintenance and repairs including structural, lighting, roofing, interior and exterior conditions of flooring, walkways and parking lots
  • Maintain and repair shop equipment and machinery
    • Support and coordinate repairs and planned upgrades.
  • Develop/update and carry out preventive maintenance activities.
  • Management of external contractors, as required.
  • Maintain repair parts stock and inventory.
  • Operate machine tools such as lathes and grinders and able to weld and fabricate parts as required.
  • Assemble machinery and equipment using hand and power tools and welding equipment.
  • Support R&D projects.
    • Active participation in cross-functional projects (Electrical, Mechanical, Tooling, etc.) in a team based environment.
    • Set-up and operate equipment for R&D trials.
  • Maintain safety standards of equipment and work area and perform all duties in a safe manner in accordance with the safety policies of Promatek.
  • Ensure that the delivery on all projects is to the appropriate levels of quality, engineering level, on time and within the budget.
  • Maintain applicable documentation:
    • Manage assigned work orders in CMMS.
    • Maintenance records, schematics, drawings, etc.
  • Able to complete hands on work requiring heavy lifting.
  • Support and participate in all continuous improvement projects.
  • Promote, monitor and maintain good housekeeping (5S).
  • Other duties as required.
