Seeking an experienced Lab Manager / General Laboratory Supervisor (GLS) to own day-to-day laboratory operations. This is a hands-on leadership role — you will run the floor, maintain instruments, drive method development and validation, and ensure CLIA/COLA compliance across all workflows. You will work alongside our MD lab director and report directly to ownership.
Responsibilities
- Manage all day-to-day clinical toxicology laboratory operations: sample workflow, instrument performance, TAT, and quality
- Lead method development and validation for new analytes and matrices, including oral fluid toxicology on Shimadzu LC/MS-8050 and Sciex 5500
- Maintain, troubleshoot, and optimize LC-MS/MS instrumentation
- Ensure ongoing CLIA and COLA compliance: QC, proficiency testing, SOP maintenance, documentation
- Supervise and develop the lab staff of the lab assistant and the accessioner
- Coordinate with MD lab director on workflow approvals, new test implementation, and inspection readiness
- Identify operational inefficiencies and drive continuous improvement
- Manage reagent and consumable inventory, vendor relationships, and instrument service contracts
- Report directly to lab ownership on operational KPIs, staffing, and expansion readiness
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or higher in clinical laboratory science, chemistry, biology, or related field
- Minimum 3–5 years of hands-on LC-MS/MS experience in a clinical toxicology laboratory
- Method development and validation experience — new analytes, new matrices, new instruments
- Experience with Shimadzu LCMS-8050 and/or Sciex 5500 series strongly preferred
- Familiarity with CLIA, COLA, and CAP regulatory requirements for high-complexity testing
- Demonstrated ability to lead a lab team and own outcomes, not just follow protocols
- Eligible to obtain a Nevada General Laboratory Supervisor (GLS) license (we will sponsor and support the licensure process)
Preferred Qualification:
- Experience with oral fluid toxicology method development and validation
- MLS (ASCP) or equivalent certification
- Experience at a BH/SUD or pain management-focused clinical tox lab
- Prior experience managing or building a small lab team
Requirements:
- Must have correct credentials/license to supervise a laboratory in Nevada
